High ESR after using Oestrogel HRT?

Can anyone help I have lupus, Scleroderma & Antiphosphilipid syndrome and have recently been placed on Oestogel HRT and my ESR has shot over 100. Could the Oestrogel have done that or is it more likely my systemic issues. I’m also on Methotrexate 25mg S/C injections and Hydroxychloroquine. Cant speak to my doctors or consultant until Friday. Google were no help.

Hi you could find it's to do with change in E levels as the body rebalances it's self!

As things like blood sugars change and red/white blood count.

When i was on T over low T with my prolactinoma things changed

I know from Trans on E that they have bloods change so it should drop back once body has adjusted to it.

Also lock your post.

Hi there, it is really unusual for someone to put you on HRT when you have Lupus and Antiphospholipid. Lupus is affective by hormones, specifically oestrogen which is why the disease is more prevalent and aggressive in young women. It can affect the disease progression in some people more than others. HRT is also known to give you an increased risk of blood clots, and if your Antiphospholipid is not well managed then this will add to your risk. The Lupus UK site also highlights the increased risk of cardiovascular disease in women with lupus, and that HRT can add to this, so anyone on HRT should be on it for as short a time as possible and very carefully monitored.

Basically, if they put you on it then it needs careful consideration and very careful monitoring to ensure it doesn't affect you adversely.

Without trying to stress you out, I really would try and talk to someone about this sooner rather than later.

I found a useful page on the subject

All my best

Lucy

Thanks Lucy. They actually consulted with the hospital before prescribing it and they tried to deny I had antiphosphilipid syndrome (they were proved wrong). Basically they couldn’t be bothered to look far enough back. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago and in December suddenly started getting hot flushes but they’ve continued whilst i was on the gel, so now wondering if its a red herring. Anyway they said i could have the gel but not the tablets but due to my own concerns I’ve now decided to stop taking it. If it is hot flushes (or as i like to call them power surged) then I will just live with it.

Regards
