Hello, has anyone been on Hydroxychloroquine and suffered with an even drier mouth than usual, which has made my mouth unbearably sore that I could hardly eat. I have been taken off it, which means the pain from RA is returning.
Hydroxychloroquine: Hello, has anyone... - Scleroderma & Ray...
Hydroxychloroquine

Hi Duttie, I've been taking hydroxychloroquine for about 4 years - I do get a dry mouth as a result of sjogrens syndrome but manage to stay comfortable just by carrying a bottle of water at all times and through the night. I was told that the dry mouth and dry eyes are caused by sjogrens syndrome which many people with systemic sclerosis are prone to. I've had no side effects which I can attribute to the hydroychloroquine. I hope you are able to resolve your discomfort soon.
Hello Duttie I am still using the Hydroxychloroquine and I have a dry mouth. But my main issue with this tablet is that it has wrecked my eyesight.
I had terrible pain in my eyes for months after starting this tablet. I regret the day I was given this tablet. My eyesight went really bad within two weeks of taking it. I came off it myself for a couple of weeks to test the pain in my eyes and proved it was the tablet. But I went back on because of what else it is for.
The pain went in my eyes after awhile. The annoying thing none of the doctors believed me. They almost look at you as a moaner. I have a really good consultant. But find no sympathy from my own doctor. I would not mind I deal with this illness and hardly even go to the doctors. I only go to the doctors when I have too. Getting an appointment is now very bad weeks to see a doctor now.
I went for a tablet review last week. Looks like I have also now got diabetes as well as scleroderma and raynauds. GREAT. Another blood test in a month and then see.
I worry because I think this illness and the diabetes is what my mother had and it was not known then 40 years ago. She lost both her legs to the top and was wheelchair bound. So praying it does not go that far with me.
So Duttie I hope that they find you a different tablet and it helps take the pains away.
take care Liz
