Nifedipine: I take 30mg of nifedipine... - Scleroderma & Ray...
Nifedipine
I take 30mg of nifepidine per day for raynauds, which I get secondary to scleroderma. I don't have high blood pressure though, so I'm not too sure about it's effect on that.
Originally I was prescribed 20mg per day, and advised to take it in the morning, so that it would have the best effect on my raynauds attacks. I was getting bouts of dizziness though, and so my GP swapped it to the evening instead. My rheumatologist has since upped it to 30mg per day (which is apparently the maximum dose), but advised that this might be too much for me to take in one go, so I now take 10mg in the mornings and 20mg in the evenings.
I would say that there would be no problem with just swapping to night time, particularly if he's already taking 30mg in one go. I'd check with the pharmacist to be on the safe side though, as I'm not sure how it would effect his blood pressure. Maybe his blood pressure is too low if he's getting dizzy?
I just skip ed the morning and then I took it at night I had that same problem I found it's better at night because of the cold it also helps me to sleep and I don't notice the dizziness as much I don't really want to take this but it's quite helpful with my raynaud's pain
