I have just had the basic antibody test at the doctors which has come back as slighltly abnormal. They are referring me to a rheumatologist.... How long do these referrals normally take?? I think once I know what I'm dealing with and processed it I'll be ok, but the unknown fills me with dread!
Referral time: I have just had the... - Scleroderma & Ray...
Referral time
I wasnt prepared to wait and paid to see a private co sultant. I saw him within days and then was quickly seen on NHS for treatment. If youare worried I would advuse you to do the same.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I have spoken tot eh hospital this morning and have an appointment on the 3rd March. Can I ask how you went about getting a private referral and how much it was? What id they want X-rays etc? Not sure how it all works... Thanks
I asked my GP to refer me to the Spire, a private hospital a few miles from where I live. Within a few days of seeing the consultant I had an appointment with an NHS rhumatologist who arranged appointments for me to have xrays and various otner tests within the NHS. I think tne privateconsultation wad about £150. The cost goes on how long the consultation takes, I think. It Is just a way of jumping the queue.
I agree, I jumped the queue and saw my consultant locally within 3 days. I had full diagnosis and then saw the same consultant on the NHS within 2 weeks. Jump the queue, early treatment can be essential. Once you have seen him have all tests on the NHS. Good luck and stay positive xx
