The same has happened to me, but it has stopped I think. The dentist had to make special arrangements to get into my mouth. I am used to it now.

I have had hot stone massage treatment on my face. I did look like I had had a stroke and literally had to force a grape between my teeth. After one treatment the 'stroke' disappeared. I am now able to smile, laugh and no longer have to eat like a mouse. The treatment feels wonderful and is permanent.

I haven't needed to try anything else. This has worked just fine. Actually have had it all over my body. My arms and legs are now straight, so I can stand up properly. And hot stone massage - done properly - is so completely blissful

You might ask at the Royal Free Hospital for a leaflet called "Maintaining facial mobility through exercise". These are facial exercises which may help. They helped me. My mouth was shrinking and I do these exercises at least once a day. If I forget for a few days I feel my mouth tightening and then I do them again. You may find this useful. I got this leaflet from Professor Denton's specialist nurse when I went for an appointment with him.

Maybe the Raynaud's and Scleroderma Association can help too.

I searched on the web and found the above article with facial exercises for people with scleroderma. I've printed them out and will see if they make any difference to me (although I'm not sure I've ever know how to flare my nostrils deliberately!). Others may like to have a look.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Irene55 was right about facial exercises and mouth stretching which can help with tightening of the skin around your mouth. It is important to also visit your dentist regularly and to maintain good dental hygiene, you can read more about this in our leaflet here raynauds.org.uk/images/stor... please call us on 01270 872 776 or email info@raynauds.org.uk if you would like to speak to us further.

Sadly this is all part of scleroderma - you could try doing mouth exercises - opening and stretching your mouth. Mine is the same but I don't let it worry me. The difficulty is putting on lipstick as there isn't much lip to put it on! I seldom bother with lipstick now.

Hi, I too have facial tightening and my mouth is getting smaller, my tip, try not to order the Burgers on the menu!!!! and don't put to much in your mouth at once, it's not a pretty sight when you have to spit it out coz you haven't got the room to chew, sucking sweets is tricky as well makes me dribble!! lol. I get periods when I can feel my skin tightening and it is horrible, but it soon passes, each day is different, sometimes I can eat a burger sometimes I can't and I have to use a knife and fork, feel very posh eating a burger with a knife and fork. My eyes feel tight as well, when I look up I can feel the tightness in my face. You get use to it. I must start doing the excerises and reading all the other replies I will now start, that's why these forums are great.
