Chilblains
Hi Emma020884 I have Raynaud's and find CIRCULEASE a supplement by HealthSpan really helps I used to get chilblains a lot but not so much as I've got older The CIRCULEASE works on circulation in general so I would think will help with chilblains. Google it and of course decide for yourself, I am recommending it from personal experience. Good luck, chilblains are VERY painful!
Hi Emma020884
At the age of twelve I developed a massive attack of chilblains. I found it very strange when my mum produced a plastic bowl from the bathroom and ordered me to pass urine in it. As the obedient child I was I did as I was told, still puzzled. Mum then sat me down, put the bowl at my feet and ordered me to put my swollen, red, painful and itchy toes in my own urine for a good few minutes. It felt warm and soothing, instant relief noticed. My feet were allowed to dry on their own then clean socks worn to keep my feet warm.
I can testify that the chilblains disappeared almost immediately. As an adult I had another mild attack of chilblains and put Mums remedy to the test, again with a positive outcome. No problems since.
When I became a nurse I learnt that unless there is an infection present in the bladder, that urine is sterile.
There are all sorts of creams and ointments on the market so see what your Pharmacist or GP recommends.
Some doctors do prescribe Nefedipine tablets to help to increase the blood circulation to the extremities and antihistamine for the itching. If you drive try the non-drowsy antihistamine
My mums remedy will always be my treatment of choice should I get chilblains again.
Good luck and Happy New Year when it comes.

Sounds horrid but does this works for raynauds too.... or any other natural remedies...?
Hello Emma020884
akileine.co.uk/wintercreme....
I too have suffered tremendously with evil chilblains - the creme above which you can get from amazon or ebay too is brilliant & saved me for sure . . . .worth a try
However i have admit the urine method as mentioned by Graygirl is something I resisted BUT finally my fingers & feet were suffering so badly I gave in & can also say it 'worked' - sounds horrible but it works!!
Good luck AliW Xxx
You could speak to your GP and he/she may prescribe a medication such as nifedipine to help the circulation which in turn should help to reduce the chilblains. Otherwise Balmosa ointment (from Pharmacies) has helped some people but should not be applied to broken skin. Another alternative therapy is Padma available from Holland & Barretts.

I saw a podiatrist about my RA feet and he saw my chilblains and got some really soft lamb's wool off a roll and shoved a piece into each sock. When I walked out it was like I'd been to see the Wizard of Oz what with new insoles he made me too! I live in these toe cozies now and they help a lot - only times chilblains get bad are when I forget to put them in my socks. They do become a solid mass so he gave me some spare and said come back whenever I need to. He is my hero! I'm sure you could get some of this stuff online or see a podiatrist if you can? The urine tip sounds very good but not sure if I could face it! X
I really recommend slippers and Ugg-style boots from the Celtic Sheepskin company. They have revolutionised by ability to survive winter!
