I suffer from Systemic scleroderma and suffer from everything posted on this site, because I suffer from the cold sooooo much our heating is on and off all year depending on the temperature........ Does anyone know if people who suffer from this disease can claim any additional benefits to help with the astronomical heating bills.

There was a thread about this. Yes but only if you are on Benefits?

I applied and got £130 in March.
I get DLA for my Scleroderma, just the lower care component, this is about £82 monthly which i feel pays for my heating which is really our biggest need in the home! I am very lucky as we have a multi fuel burning stove, and i cannot tell you how toasty this is, and it saves putting the heating on all over the house. I also cannot recommend enough my electric blanket, so i never get into bed cold.
Hi Maryloo2. speak with your energy provider. The government has give some monies to help people on certain benefits and registered disabled. They will let you know if you are eligible after asking you for some details.
It is a shame that the weather continues to be very trying for us as we need to turn on the heating when others don't. My gas bill is emormous but I what can I do? Even when my heating is on full blast and I am under my duvet, my hands and feet are like blocks of ice. I pay for my gas and electricity by direct debit monthly so I don't worry about it too much.
All the best and good luck!
