I hadn’t thought to look at day time readings but noted it can drop below 90% in daytime on a few occasions. , I might have been napping (sometimes I struggle to stay awake and yawn like mad) but other times I am sure I was up and about (or at least sitting) and awake. Could this still the sleep apnea related or something else?
That's something you should talk to your doctor about. In the US it is advised to contact a healthcare provider with a blood oxygen of 92%. At 88% you should seek emergency care if a doctor is not aware of the condition and giving you other instructions. Since sleep apnea is only treated while you are asleep no matter whether it is related or not it is not being treated during the day.
That needs a doctor to determine why and what treatment is needed. You don't look for alternative treatments or answers online for lung or cardiac issues until a doctor has checked for obvious causes and given you whatever treatment they think might work. Without information on the diagnosed cause or major health issues being ruled out those are not parts of the body you want to waste time guessing at the problem or what to do about it.
thank you for pointing out if I have understood that night time treatment doesn’t necessarily also treat daytime issues.
Last week I’d only talked to GP about night time readings (had not seen the individual day time ones only as a range) and they referred me to sleep clinic (10 to 15 week wait time) and didn’t suggest anything more urgent.
Seeing cardiologist in a couple of weeks to re congenital heart defect which reduces blood flow (no meds to help / surgery unlikely).
But I will go back to GP to update on day readings.
