Hi all

In 2018 I went through an extremely painful medical procedure. The pain stopped thereafter, I relaxed but that night I couldn't sleep. Then everything turned back to normal. After an year or so one night I woke up in the middle and was very much disturbed because of a matter. I started talking to myself and then I couldn't sleep for I guess 48 - 72 hours. In emergency I asked a doctor to prescribe me a sleeping pill and ever since I am on it.

When I stop taking it either I am unable to fall a sleep for hrs and hrs or I can't maintain - I wake up after 4-5 hrs. Sleep hygiene is no use at least for me. I wish I sleep naturally without a pill. Please advise.

Hi losing game, I agree when you have serious sleep issues sleep hygiene just doesn't do much. Have you tried cbt (i). I don't know where you live but he re in the UK there is a free Web based program called sleepio. It basically trains you to sleep. It is not for the faint hearted as it involves sleep restriction but it is effective. I think I am going to have to do it again myself as my sleep is all over the place too but that is probably due to chronic kidney disease and pain. But if you have never tried it before give it a shot.

No I haven't tried CBT but I have heard that it works. Thanks for sleepio.
