Hi, has anyone used the programme on Sleepstation through their G P? I think this has to be my next stage.
Sleepstation: Hi, has anyone used the... - Sleep Matters
Sleepstation
Yes I used it after 7 weeks was sleeping much more and cleared up my sleep routine they structure it around you well worth your while as when your not sleeping it's awful.
I'm just starting. Have only completed one week which consisted of keeping a sleep diary. From tomorrow I start a restricted sleep programme based on the results of my diary. Am feeling apprehensive, but I know I need to do something. Give it a try, if like me your problem has been ongoing for quite a while, it might be the answer.
Hello Silver Cruiser, I am now on the programme and have almost completed my restricted sleep week. I have found that very hard as I am weary through the day BUT for the last two nights I have gone to sleep within 15 minutes of going to bed. BUT before the programme I have had nights of no sleep at all! It is the getting up so early in the morning that I find difficult. I seem to be a week behind you so hope you are progressing well.
Hello Bardsea,
Glad you took the plunge!
Yes the restricted sleep is hard. Like you I found getting up when I felt in a deep sleep very difficult. I also felt tired throughout the day. Sitting down after lunch or to read was fatal, so easy to close your eyes and nap.
But one advantage of being so tired was being able to fall asleep within 15 minutes. Something I have struggled with for ages.
Stick with it, and please keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on.
Best wishes.
Hello Silver Cruiser. Just wondered how you were progressing with your last weeks? Have you got your sleep cycle back? Does it get any easier? I am allowed 5.5 hours a night this week and like you I feel I am being wakened up when I could have another few hours! I try not to nap but sometimes it is just impossible not to. I have had 4 good nights up to last night so I am more positive. I listen to sleep hypnosis audios off You Tube or a book audio. I find this is the best way to fall asleep. Do you have a way?
Hello Bardsea,
Glad things are improving for you. I also struggle not to nap, its fatal to sit down, especially after lunch!
Unfortunately I also have anxiety problems and have been struggling to fall asleep this week. I find having to get up and go to another room if I haven't fallen asleep within 15 minutes very difficult. I might pinch your idea about the You Tube audios! Anything is worth a try.
Have you had sleep problems for long? Mine have persisted for around 5 years so not going to change overnight.
It is a tough programme to follow but I'm hoping it will pay off.
Hello and thank you for replying. My sleep times were put to going to bed at 12midnight and getting up at 5! Did you have something similar to this? I have slept past the alarm on two occasions but I do try to stick with the programme. My insomnia started in March when I had an attack of sciatica. The doc gave me a strong opioid pain killer as well as a tablet that was a pain killer and an antidepressant. I am not depressed in any way but the combination just spaced me out and my head took months to get back to normal. It was during the time of the medication that I started with the sleep problem. I went for hypnotherapy but he couldn’t put me under so that wasn’t any use. (I was the only one in 4 years that he hadn’t succeeded with)! I have found this programme hard as it leaves me very tired, before this I was a full 8 hours + person! I didn’t want it to go on for months as I feared it would become a habit so I will do anything to crack it! Do you feel you will succeed?
Hello, Yes my times were similar to yours, then the following week were changed, then changed again. At present I do 11:00pm to 5:30am. This week has been very hard as my anxiety has kicked in big time and I'm struggling to fall asleep before 2:00am. Have given up on he alarm and wake up whenever. Its usually around 6:00am as this is the time I have woken for years.
I probably should have done this programme years ago but the thought of having to stay up really worried me. For some reason it gives me intense feelings of loneliness.
Not sure if I will succeed or not, at the moment just worried about the anxiety and not falling asleep earlier.
But you've done the right thing by nipping it in the bud and I'm sure you will have a positive outcome!
Very best wishes.
Hello Silver Cruiser, let me know at the end of the programme how you have done and if they suggest anything more. Try an audio book or the Mindfull ones on YouTube. The one on this blog a little later than mine has Michael Sealey but I like the ones with Sara Raymond. I think the music ones are disturbing. Once you are used to them you might find you fall asleep very quickly. Good luck!
