I am looking for help as work with a child who has ongoing issues with bowel incontinence. His carers have explored all means that have been suggested to deal with but nothing has been effective. I wanted to know how further exploratory work could be undertaken in order to seek the causes of this. So far health services in UK are giving the message that there is nothing further that can be done. We have gone down the route of looking at this being constipation and this has been ruled out. A private clinic was contacted but wouldn't see them until they became an adult. I wondered whether there is the possibility of this being caused by a muscular condition perhaps or something else. They do have some mild learning difficulties. Any suggestions would be great.

Have you been in contact with ERIC in the UK? eric.org.uk/ They may have some excellent resources for you and also some recommendations on physicians who might be of more assistance.
