As title suggests, may be moving several states away. How do you handle longer road trips with OAB? I am looking at 16 plus hours of driving. I have contemplated catheters but UTI risks are concerning.

Tips for Long Road Trips with OAB/bladder issues ?
Have you thought of diapers ??? They do have diapers for good for 8hrs. Dry 24/7, north shore maga max diapers are just a few I know of. I hope this helps.
The idea of a catheter makes me very anxious so I refuse to use them. Unless you have reason to not wear them I'd suggest diapers for a long car ride anytime, I can't ride more than an hour without one on. Pack you a diaper bag and be sure you have plenty of wipes and powder and just do what you have to do. It'll give you plenty of interesting stories for the blog you were thinking about as well.
The only negative I can think of is I am not sure how easy it would be to do that on a longer trip. It seems I have to sit at a certain angle however I could experiment since the move is a ways away. Thank you for the tips!
Indwelling/Foley Catheters are fine if learn all about them esp so learn any signs of issues.
You can use for the day or longer there just another tool in the box!
You can drink as much as you like so well hydrated which is the best way with them.
Can be used on there own with a Valve on end like Bard Flip Flo then just go as you would normally just keep end high as nearly empty so lessen air getting back up it.
You can Add bags Best is the Rusch Belly bag sits round middle lets bladder fill it as leg bags cause more trauma inside bladder as they syphon(Hand over bath plug hole sucked in with pressure!)
Trick with them is to keep fluid flowing rather than emptying last drop to keep urine from getting stagnant.
I’d say map out your trip, dress comfortably, have changes of clothes readily available as well as restroom stops planned. A knowledgable physician can help you with the catheter and maybe that would make you feel more comfortable? Ultimately, do what you feel most comfortable with and be flexible if things don’t go according to plan. Most of all- Enjoy your trip! See some sights- even if it’s just from the car window, take pictures, do some fun reading, taste something new! Long road trips are a once in a lifetime adventure
I use diapers. Good diapers too, the more expensive ones from NorthShore Care. The cheap ones from local pharmacy or grocery stores are horrible. They leak badly, unless your only worried about a couple of drips here and there. Give them a try, they give you free samples to help you see what works and what doesn't.
