Pads for bladder control issues.

I have come to the point I know I need to wear protection. Diapers are good but I see the male guard option. Has anyone had success with such products?

Mark I've been using a product call Manhood Absorbent Pouch Drip Collector By ColoplastLook it up. I've been very happy with it.

It depends how much protection you need. I use Abri San Premier 6 but do not have much leakage.

Hi Mark2Grow,

Pads can work very well, but it depends on the amount of urine you lose and perhaps more importantly the rate that you lose urine. They are great for dribbles of urine or if you just lose a little bit and then can make it to the bathroom. Pads can become saturated quickly and then leak if you have a “free flow” accident. This is even when they have more available capacity, they just can’t always absorb fast enough. I used pads for a while but my urine loss became frequently more than what the pad could absorb. I got tired of changing underwear and waiting for my dark pants to dry in between my legs. Part of the advantage of a diaper is the addition of gathered legs and leak guards. These help keep the urine contained, even if it pools a little bit before the diaper can absorb all of it.

Not sure if that helps, but I hope it will give you some info in your decision making.

My late husband did not have luck with the guards and did better with a pull-up style of brief once the amount that he was losing was more than a guard could handle. I think a lot depends on your lifestyle and the amount of urine lost. You may find guards will work well for you now, and over time you may need a different product.

Be willing to experiment and get samples from online retailers and try different styles and absorbencies, and then be ready to shift into something else if your incontinence changes.

Thanks so much. I am going to try a few different options. There are many out there it seems.
