Neurostimulator device for overactive bladder

My daughter was diagnosed with overactive bladder. It's an issue she's been struggling with for several years. She's tried several medications, including Detrol, but has not had much luck. Her urologist has suggested surgery for something called a neurostimulating device that's implanted in her lower back. Has anyone else had experience with this type of device? Wondering if you've had any improvement.

It takes some time to find the right settings, but it generally makes life better. Although it is far from perfect, the downside risk is minimal.

Before an implant, which is still an implant and costly, I would try conservative measures from pudendal nerve stimulation (stim on ankle) or external like Elitone which does include urge signals too in its stim waveform. you just wear it under clothes.

I would definitely ask about PTNS (which is external stimulation at the ankle area) and other conservative therapies first before doing an implant procedure. One good thing about the device that your surgeon has recommended, is that you can do a trial with the device (worn externally) for a week first and see if it "works" for your daughter. If you get good results, then you can proceed with the implantation, if you want to.
