There are many types of incontinence, but overall, incontinence is extremely common. Women are particularly hit hard, but so are men. And people of all ages can have incontinence, but as we age it does indeed become more and more common. Estimates are that 300 million people have some form of incontinence. And we can all ask for help. The first steps are to let a doctor or healthcare provider know about our symptoms, so that a good discussion on possible therapies (there are LOTS of therapies these days) and products to help keep us dry and comfortable can begin. First steps include noninvasive therapies - like getting us hooked up with a good physiotherapist who is trained in all types of pelvic floor dysfunction. This article has a good description of how a PT can work with you, and things you can do, too, on your own, to help with symptoms.
