Hello there, I'm sorry you're going through that. I do get knee pain. I have not been offered a knee replacement though. I don't think it's that bad yet. I still use alternative remedies like an infra-red lamp and deep heat.

Hi Anzy, Thanks so much for your

response about infra-red lighting and

deep heat. What type of infra-red

light and when you say deep heat do you mean such as a rub? Blessings,

Living Life.

Hi Living-Life lots of SCD patients have problems with their joints. I don't have pain in my knees. My problem is both of my shoulders and my big toe. I have been offered physiotherapy for my shoulders and surgery for my toe. A lot of my friends with knee pain have been offered knee replacement just like those with pain in the hips. The decision is yours. If you feel you are able to manage the pain with medication and you can tolerate the pain then you can postpone the surgery. You can also apply deep heat creams if you are allowed any the ingredients of the cream by your doctor. Some Asian stores sell pain relief heat rubs as well. Does this pain affect your mobility by the way?

Hi jo19, Thanks for your response . Haven’t been able to be on the site I. quite

awhile but yes, stairs and exercise are especially difficult and now getting in and out to the shower is becoming an issue.

Thank you & Stay safe,
