I lost my best friend and sister to this horrible silent killer!

My sister Martha and I founded Doc It Foundation in 2006 when she was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Little did we know she only had 2 years to live. We prayed and stayed positive, but eventually her cancer would spread to her abdominal wall.

Martha, went for yearly GYN check ups every six months, as we all did. My fathers side of the family they all died from different cancers. She was cleared by her GYN doctor just 3 months shy of being diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. What we DID’NT know was that ovarian cancer was not detected in any screening tests performed. Had we known, we could have taken other measures and she would probably still be here with us today.

Since her passing in 2008, I have dedicated my life to building awareness and educating women and teens about ovarian cancer.
