Hello, I just got an MRI and a CA-125 done yesterday. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the test results?

Annemarie, it usually takes about 3-5 days, depending on lab that is doing it.

Hope this helps. I know it is nerve wracking waiting, but keep positive and have faith.

Hi Annemarie, my onc gets the results in 1 day, and she usually tells me through my online chart by day 2. When I was a new patient, she would only tell me in person during a regular appointment. The same time-frame applies for an MRI. I'm sure all the labs and wait times vary a lot.

I am a patient of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in the Silicon Valley. They have their own labs in several sites. My basic blood work results are usually posted on-line in a couple of hours. My CA-125 usually posts before 24 hours. My doctor has my orders tagged as “stat” which means I get top priority for all blood work. I’m very lucky to be in the care of this medical group. My oncologist works very closely with my primary care physician. My MRIs and PET scan results usually take a couple of days. My Dr. reviews these in person or over the phone. The results are then posted on line. Hope this helps.
