I am 73 years old and was diagnosed in Jan 2012 with 4th stage clear cell ovarian cancer . I had carbo/ taxol. surgery and carbo/ taxol again. This gave me 33 months cancer free. I re occurred and had Gemsar/carbo which gave me 13 months free of cancer. I am now on rubraca. After one month CA125 went from 121 to 48. My quality of life has been good. I am braca positive.
I am new to this site.

Welcome! I'm glad you found this site. I'll be interested to hear more about your experiences on rucaparib (the generic name for Rubraca). I hadn't heard about this particular drug so I looked it up and it looks encouraging for women with advanced ovarian cancer and the BRCA mutation. Did they tell you about Rubraca Connections? rubracaconnections.com/page...
We don't qualify for the rubraca connection. However we paid a copay of almost 3ooo dollars once and than were in and out of the donut hole so next copay was 12 dollars.
The side effects so far have been minimal slight nausea which has no pattern and fatigue which I try and combate with ginseng.

Are you a strawberry moon child like me? I found I had sudden onset of old age when I moved 3 years ago & had to find all new doctors. It's your age, honey. HA!
Thank you for posting your story which is very encouraging. I have been diagnosed with clear cell ovarian cancer stage 3c and am on first line carbo/taxol and have been wondering what other treatments may be available to me in the future. Wishing you well on Rubraca, Wendy
I usually post on the UK OvaCome site but on this one too. I was diagnosed in March 2016 with clear cell 1C after full TAHBSO, Removal of Omentum and appendix. I had Carbo And Taxol from April to 29th July 2016 and recurred in Jan 2017. Platinum resistant now so now on weekly Taxol. I've recurred in my abdomen and peritoneal wall plus thickening on lesser omentum and other areas, plus malignant Ascites - bowel issues being managed by daily steroids, laxatives, pain being managed by Zomorph and Oramorph, plus other meds,
My CA125 was only 30 at diagnosis but 2292 at recurrenceand 5786 just before my 1st weekly Taxol last Friday.
Well, at our age, at least we have experience on our side. I am not brca positive, good for my family. I have a strong history of colon cancer. I found out about Lynch syndrome after the fact. My mission now is to warn every woman I meet about ovarian cancer. Talk about the silent killer, or at least getting past all the usual tests. Everyone so far thinks that getting the pap test is protection against ovarian. I wish you all the blessings on the next round of treatment.
