after 6 months on anastrozole and increasing joint, bone pain, my oncologist suggested change to exemestane, thinking reduced side effects because of different mechanisms... any experiences with this inhibitor?#anastrozole #exemestane

I was on anastrozole for tgree years. Started having bone pain. Dr changed me to exemstane a little over a month ago, no change. Then I went to my pain management doctor and I’m having an mri Tuesday as he thinks it’s a pinched nerve. I have pain in my shoulders, arms hands and fingers. It’s a burning pain. He gave nerve pain pills and 15 mg of morphine. Helps a little, but not a lot of relief. Hope you get some relief, I feel your pain. Hugs

I was on Anastrozole for 5 years when I was originally diagnosed. I also had lots of joint pain, hot flashes, etc. but it kept the cancer at bay. I would gladly have stayed on it for 10 years as it might have stopped progression. Anyway, after 2 1/2 years off of it, I was diagnosed with MBC and have been on Ibrance and Letrozole. I feel that Letrozole does not cause me as much joint pain and I do not really have hot flashes on it. I would ask your doctor about switching to that. Sending hugs and prayers.
currently on this same regimen. I have had swelling in my ankles and left knee, plus the joint pain. I may be switching to Enhertu, more because my scan showed growth.
First dx I had anastrozole with virtually no side effects. Twelve years later am on Letrozole with all kinds of joint, muscle etc. pain. As far as I can tell, it's each woman for herself. Maximum Tylenol and a curcumin supplement have helped a lot!
I have never used examestane, but I have used fulvestrant. I love it, I was taking it with Ibrance. Unfortunately, newest scans showed progression and my doctor took me off of it. 😢
When we are on several different medications for our disease, the doctor cannot tell which drug is failing. I’m mad that she took me off of both of them. I wish you luck coming your current treatment. Hugs and love, Jody. 🩷
I understand. I’ve had several pairs of meds fail and I don’t know if one was working
