Hi ladies! which is more effective palbociclib or ribociclib? My onc said ribociclib is and recommended to continue with it. have you talked to the doctors about it?But it is 2 times more expensive and I am self-financed. I can't afford it financially

Palbo is works well for the fourth year.

Im sad and confused . 😥

I have been on Ibrance (Palbo) for almost 4 years and it has worked well for me. If the Palbo is working well for you, I'm curious why your doctor wants you to switch. Sending hugs and prayers.

Ribociclib is newer than palbociclib and is considered to be a more effective drug. It’s clinically proven to increase overall survival and not just progression free survival. However, if the palbo is working effectively, I wouldn’t recommend changing. If it stops working, that would be the time to consider making a change. The side effects on ribo are more more intense than those of palbo. Ribo also interacts with a lot more drugs, supplements and basic foods. I couldn’t tolerate more than one round of it.

I've been on Ibrance and faslodex for almost 6 yrs with no progression and few side effects (my eyelashes fell out but have since regrown). My oncologist said she won't change until there is a progression.

...as my onc said when I asked about a new drug coming out "If you're in a horse race riding the winning horse, you don't stop to change horses." I'm not sure why your onc wants you to change drugs if one is working. Best to wait for it to fail.

Have been on Ibrance/Letrozole successfully a little over 7 years. I plan to stick with it as long as it is continuing to work. Good luck with your decision. Blessings and prayers, Hannah

Also, ask your cancer center about assistance with the cost. Mine contacted the manufacturer (Pfiser?) and I ended up getting it for free. I am on Medicare.

I agree with all of the above: ribo was shown to be more effective longer in clinical trials, but why switch if it is working, and I got both palbo and ribo free from the pharmaceutical: Ibrance from Pfizer patient assistance program (there is an online application form) and ribo from Novartis Foundation. You may not qualify, though, if your income is high.
