Dear friends, the doctor recommended to do oblation on the liver, I have 2.8 cm met. If anyone has experience with this procedure, I would like to know. What are the prognosis, how do you feel after the procedure and how long does it take to recover? How does the liver behave after? Does it affect other organs. I have an ulcer in the esophagus and intestinal constipation. Thank you.

I have had liver ablations twice. The fordt time the doctor “zapped” two lesions of about the same size of yours. The second time was to zap the remaining active lesion that wasnt accessible the first time.

The procedure was out patient and while I was sore for a couple of days after, it was easy to recover from. The place where the lesions were zapped shows up on MRI and PET Scans. So far there has been no recurrence. No other organs were impacted.

I’m on Xeloda, am had the procedure done during my week off. Every six months the Interventional Radiologist orders an MRI of the abdomen to see how things look. This is usually during the week I have PET scans (which I have every three months).

Everyone is different, so your experience may not mirror mine.

Best wishes.

I had liver ablation three weeks ago. It was very manageable with sedation. I was awake. I had a slow recovery with some stomach pains but again manageable. I also had referred shoulder pain which I was told could happen. It is healing slowly. I still have some mobility effects. I had an MRI the next morning and it showed the liver spots were gone. Happy about that! Good luck to you.
