Oserdu and Increase Cholestrol

I was told Oserdu can increase cholesterol. I’ve been on it two months so far and, yes, my cholesterol is high!

oncologist is encouraging getting on a statin. My MD is trying to be conservative about throwing me on a statin. Anybody had cholesterol spike with Oserdu? How did you proceed? Does it ever go down? My cancer markers are up to 61 now also. Appreciate any input on Oserdu

My cholesterol was high before going on. The second time I tested, it went to 275. I didn’t go on anything. My triglycerides were good. I was just tested again, and it’s down to 230. I don’t plan on going on a statin. I’ve been on 6.5 months. Tumor markers can raise for a few months, so try to give them a chance to drop.

Thank you. That’s very helpful for me to know. Appreciate your reply. Have you had any side effects or any progression thus far?

I had a lot of fatigue the first four months or so, but that’s gotten a little better. I had to take Omeprazole for a few months as well. I don’t believe I’ve had progression, as my tumor markers dropped for five months. They went up a tick this month, but I had a cold, so I’m not worried. My tumor markers are a very good indicator. My mets are in my bones, bone marrow, and stomach. If it progresses in my stomach, I start not being able to eat and lose weight. I gained weight with this.

Sounds like you have done very well. I’m glad to hear. I know this is a fairly new treatment so there’s not alot of information. Im wondering if anyone takes less than 345mg.

Continued good luck to you.

Thank you. I hope you do well also. There is an Orserdu Facebook group. I do some take less.

I was on Arimidex, which increases cholesterol. I had never had a problem, but it did get high. Primary doc wanted to put me on a statin, but I resisted. I went on exemestane, which is even more likely to cause high cholesterol. I got it down quite a bit with diet, but still high. I just started a low dose of a statin, finally. I have other risk factors for stroke/heart attack.

I looked up interactions, and it turns out the statin interacts with the CDK4/6 inhibitor I am taking (Kisqali). I am on a reduced dose of Kisqali because of heart issue, and the statin amplifies the Kisqali. Neither my onc or primary is concerned.

Thanks Tammy. So much to juggle. Everything causes something else. And then a new drug for the something else’s side effects.
