Hi everyone, new year with hopeful expectations. I am 80 and have anthem Medicare advantage. The hospital co pays are enormous. Was wondering if I would be better on just Medicare and pay a premium. Any suggestions? Would welcome

Yes yes yes. If you can get a regular Medicare plan, I think you should. I have always cautioned against advantage plans for the reasons you mentioned. I am 81 and have never paid for anything except my premium.

Triage Cancer does excellent webinars on Medicare. Also, the Medicare website has a great tool to explore options for prescriptions and gap insurance. I believe you have until the end of March to make a switch. Good luck!!

I have always left those decisions to my Medicare broker -Lisa Daly - 800-391-2165 - like any broker, her role is to find the best plan for the patient who has no idea how to navigate the Medicare system- everyone I have referred to her has thanked me profusely-and I have always been happy (14 years on Medicare) -there are no fees to the patient -Medicare pays for these services -I would check her out -just sayin'...

I recommend using an insurance broker. Advantage plans are supposed to fill in the gaps left by Medicare. I have a supplement, instead, and though the premium is 260 a month on top of Medicare A, B and D, there is no hospital copay.

good morning granny… I have Medicare n a supplement which I pay a monthly premium which is affordable n not outrageous n after paying that beginning of the year to Medicare I never get bills just EOB(explanation of benefits). N believe me I have a lot of appointments MRI Ct blood work. I had major surgery in 2022 my gallbladder 3 weeks prior to that surgery I had lung biopsy that’s when I found out I had MBC. …n I had major surgery had my ovaries n tubes removed in May 2023…. N endoscopy/colonoscopy November …N all the specialists that I see accept my insurance. I feel blessed my husband did the research n found us our supplement insurance. I also have a drug plan WellCare. But my husband signed me up for Gold RX . When I was first diagnosed with MBC n met my oncologist he put me on Exemestane n I went to CVS n they said $420 for 30 pills. I called gold RX n they set me up for home delivery n I just had to call monthly n the costs $52 a month.

Have a wonderful day 🙏☮️

Considering your concerns about high copays with Anthem Medicare Advantage, switching to Original Medicare and adding a Medigap policy might help manage those costs better. Medigap can cover copays and deductibles, potentially saving you money in the long run. Compare the premiums and benefits before deciding. I used moneyrepublic.co.uk/ to compare private health insurance options easily. It was quick to check services and compare quotes. I even found great car finance deals, all from trustworthy providers. Saved money with just a click! Maybe give it a look?
