As I've posted before regarding a brain mri and abdomen thorax CT earlier this year, with brain mri showing progression in at least 1 lesion and slight progression in liver, I thought I'd post the results of recent scans following a treatment change to enhertu.
I met with oncologist last week to receive results and was really happy to be told that all brain lesions had responded, showing significant shrinkage. The rogue liver lesion has reduced from 2.8cm to 2cm and bones are showing scarring. Lungs are stable and I have no new sites of cancer.
oncologist is delighted with these results particularly as he explained that realistically it shouldn't be working in the brain as the molecules of the meds are too big to pass the blood brain barrier, however already having the cancer pass the blood brain barrier it has therefore compromised it making it possible for larger than normal molecules to pass. Good job too!
I'm feeling well on enhertu and continue to take letrozole tablets since Sept 2020 along side the 3 weekly infusions.
Congrats!!! I can't tell you how happy that makes me for you. I started Enhertu yesterday after progression on several different oral meds. How many infusions so far? Can you tell me about the side effects? Any hair loss so far?
Hi,I've had 5 infusions now. After the first 2 I felt very mild nausea a couple of days after but not with the last 3 infusions.
I have had a mouth ulcer recur on inside of lip the last 2 time, quite large and sore so have done salt washes.
As I had new hair growth anyway (very little) from having had WBRT in November last year, I'm not seeing a lot of loss, few strands on pillow some mornings, I wear a wig since WBRT so this doesn't bother me, not as long as I'm seeing these great scan results anyway!!
I do experience heartburn some evenings, no particular pattern to it.
I get quite bad constipation so regularly rely on Laxido but I did with previous treatment of kadcyla too.
I wish you well on it, let us know how you go with it x
This is brilliant to read. So encouraging! Thank you for the detailed report. As you know I'm on Kadcyla now, with Enhertu next down the line.
I've got CT scans of my head and body coming up, which will show how the WBRT I had in May acted on my own brain lesions and the Kadcyla subsequently. Fingers crossed for good results... but your Enhertu experience gives hope for the future even if they're not so good...
So, thank you again Cazlav and wishing you continued health and good news!
Many congrats on such good results — I was particularly interested encouraged about the blood brain barrier comment as my indolent bone only cancer recently decided to jump ship to the brain. Be good if meds could address. Hi hi!
So so happy for you -thanks for sharing this wonderful news! Now it’s time to do the happy dance!💃💃💃 May the side effects be manageable for you on this treatment and you stay on this treatment for a very long long time! Blessings to you!
Thank you for sharing your experience with Enhertu. I'm not on it but I believe that's the next treatment should this one, Kadcyla, fail.I was told that Enhertu can cross the blood/brain barrier.
Hi Cazlav- Hoping you are still with us and able to give us an update on your treatment of enhertu. I too was told that enhertu is able to pass through. Praying you are ok. Blessings
I start Enhertu this week and am anxious about the possible side effectsI have run thru all the pills to stop progression so now once again I will have chemo infusions.( I had taxol infusions when my BC metastisized in 2019). I never expected to have to have infusions again😞
