Fear not. Each of us react differently but my experience on Xeloda was very good. I had no side effects at all and it worked well for me for 22 months before my move to Lynparza this month. I think the side effects depend on your dosage. I was on metronomic dosing since I started taking Xeloda 500 mg x 3 a day. I was on it daily with no rest days. I think the usual protocol is 2 weeks on and 1 week off and oncologists usually start their patients on high doses then do dose reduction if the side effects are too many. I think the dosage is also weight based. Since I weigh only 43 kilos, I was put on the lowest possible dose but with no rest days. Hope this helps.
Thanks. Dr. wants to start lowest dose 2 was then 1 wk off. I get strange reactions, SE to some of these neds. Hearing g from you really helps. It's so nice knowing I am not alone out there, that I can trust you all and not just Dr. So many trials and high price shoes Jimmy Choo, makes me worry but Kicjbacks. Real or am I just feeling that wholesome paranoia and delirium kicking in. 🌹❤🙏Thank You All for the 💘
It's really not too bad. I have a bit of hand and foot issues but those are manageable (although my feet are not sandal ready...)I feel good most of the time. You've got this. Where in Indiana are you? I was raised there!
Just moved to Southern Indiana, Columbus IN March. My new Daughter-in-law grew up here. I was born and raised for 41 years Queens NY, then moved to Florida when Son teenager and directly after 9-11. All Family followed except 1 brother. Sister stayed in Parents house in Florida. She's on Dialysis, Brother bad COPD lives with her and her son. Her Daughter is married and live in ClearwaTer I think. 2021 was rough year, Sister lost Highschool sweetheart after fall and DVT, Lost my Brother to throat Cancer and Trach. He really did not sure and condition was shocking to see at first. Thank God for Hospice. It didn't take long but it was peaceful. We are a mess sometimes but we have eCh other. Having you keeps me sane. That and my caring, bossy son and my daughter-in-law agree Angel from heaven. I feel better she's here for him when I may not be. 💋💗💐🌹🌹🌹
You must be exhausted! Is there any way you can trim back some of those appointments? It’s hard to feel like you’re having a good quality of life when you’re constantly in the waiting room or exam room. Tell your doctors it’s too much and see if you can get a reasonable schedule. Good luck 🍀
I've been on it for 4 rounds, I have 2 weeks one 1 off. Some fatigue, some constipation (!) Which is helped by laxative and some hand foot syndrome but tolerable. It shrank my neck node very quickly!
Hey Contrarielle…. I think it’s shrunk mine too after 1 cycle😳! All the meds I’ve been on never did anything to this 1 neck node I could feel until now. Scan next month - I shall look forward to that…. Here’s to hoping!Tc
Hi Rbeth. How you getting on with Piqray? They want to start my sister on it after Ibrance stopped working. I’m intrigued that you had Xeloda first … !? X
It’s my 2nd cycle and so far so good. It’s easy to fear this medication, especially when you’re given an alert card and the list of side effects. It’s not been too bad at all (so far), I take 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening for 14 days and 1 week off.
I’m the meantime I’ve been lathering my hands and feet with a rich cream trying to prevent H&F syndrome!!
I was on Xeloda for a while with good results. The main side effect is the hand foot syndrome so keep hands and feet well moisturized! I am in the Indianapolis area and would recommend Bryan Schneider. He is with IU North in Indianapolis and might also have office hours in some of the surrounding locations. His group is breast care only which I find very helpful. From Columbus, Indy would be about an hour and a half drive without traffic.
Hi, I’m treated in the U.K. and this drug is called Capecitabine here which I am on. I take 1800 (5 tablets) in the morning and the same in the evening, two weeks on and one week off. I’ve had about four courses so far and it’s working it’s magic! I’ve had no side effects and am feeling good. Rather strangely though I did develop a new primary triple negative BC since starting on Cape!!
Everolimus and Exemestane didn’t work and gave me side effects. Then Fulvestrant didn’t work either.
I was not keen to start this new treatment but it has worked well so far. So we all react differently to treatments. I hope it works for you with no side effects and that hospital visits will settle down for you soon. Vicki
You will probably be alright. As said before we all react differently. I didn't do well even on one dose and refused Everolimus and Exemetane because of the side effects. I am now on Verzenio and Tamoxifen. It is working well except for the loose stools. And it has been proven that Tamoxifen works just as well at the lower dose.
I was put on Xeloda 3 different times, and although the side effects seem rough, it's doable. The worst for me was hand-foot syndrome. My dosage was reduced, so the hand-foot wasn't as severe. The PA that was monitoring side effects told me "it's not how much you take, it's how long you can take it".
