4 years I’m taking the injections for faslodex. The injection site is always sore and the injections are painful . Has anyone had to stop due to this ? What did they put you on instead and is it working as well ? Scared 😱

I’ve only been on Faslodex 18 months. The trick I’ve learned here works well. Before the injection lift the leg to let the muscle relax, also have the nurse inject slowly and make sure the medication is a room temperature. After what I fondly call my SITA (shots in the axx) grin, I make sure to rub the area and keep it moving. You want that to get into the tissue and not form a bulb of liquid at the injection site. That’s all I have for what works for me !

I’m doing this going on 5 years , all your wonderful advice I have been doing , The problem I’m finding now is after going on five years having the shot in the same area I now broke out in shingles on both sides which is rare you only get it on one side and the shingles line from where I got the injections from that side hip all wrapped around my back and a straight line to the other side hip where the Injection was put that’s where the shingles started with two big red circles and then in a straight line wrapped around I’m in terrible pain

Interesting. I quickly did a google search and it does appear they can be associated. Meh. Check with your onc. I believe there is a trial that’s wrapping up for a Faslodex oral drug. Give some of that. Tired of the SITA. Here’s a link I just found. ehealthme.com/ds/faslodex/s...

Wow , thank you , so there is a common bond . I saved the site to show to my oncologist thank you very much. Are you a nurse or a doctor yourself you sound very knowledgeable you are awesome. Besides for that I am suffering with my shingles now am On my 5th day . I’m on famciclovir . My Oncologist told me to take 3 500mg tabs a day for 10 days, everywhere I read it says for seven days. He’s not the type of doctor that you just call up and ask a question to. When he told me I was in remission three weeks ago he was looking at his screen, he didn’t even look at me And said you’re in remission and walked out. Then the nurse hugged me . When people tell me I should change doctors because he does not say a word. He only says what you need to hear and he really doesn’t answer any questions but one word answers. But he got me to remission, and my cancer was grade 3 stage two grade 3 before it went Metastatic. Then I found him. And he took me here.

That’s great news ! No - laughing - I most certainly am Not a nurse or doctor! However at this rate all of us are in sharing what works etc. 🥰 Sometimes I think we - the MBC patient - know more than the book worm docs do !

Perhaps ask your nurse if you could also safely take lysine caplets? Lysine can be very effective for this type of virus. But check with them first. This at least tells you foods to eat to increase lysine help decrease the shingles duration, and what to avoid! (I'll be in trouble if I ever get shingles because I eat a lot of what you have to avoid!) livestrong.com/article/2802... hope you feel better soon! I have a friend who just got it too.

Hi Stacy,How are you feeling? My friend knows a lady who has been on Faslodex for many years One day she developed some rash that bothered her a lot She used some Chinese cream that was very difficult to get. She was getting it from China. This was the only cream that helped her. I may ask the name of it if you have rash. But shingles might be treated some how. Another friend of mine who is completely healthy and not on any meds recently got shingles. It was painful but went away. I am not sure if she was using something or not. I am sorry for your suffering.

Feel better.

Warm regards,

Marina

Hi Stacy again. This lady who told me about a cream is at work now. I will get in touch with her later and will let you know as soon as I hear from her. She said that this was the only one that helped her friend from itching she could not stand. I am very sorry. I feel for you. Feel better.

Stacy. This is a Chinese cream that helped that lady with rash and itching from Faslodex. Its not easy to find it. She got it from some Chinese store in Israel where she lives. I will also send you another one that my friend “s husband was using for itching rash after the surgery he got. It was a prescription one I will recommend you to see the dermatologist who may prescribe you a right medication. I got some rash after the pacemaker surgery and the dermatologist prescribed me an antibiotic cream over the cortisone. It went away. Feel better

I've never had shingles (there is a vaccine to prevent it) but my husband has. He's a rough tough kinda guy, a retired police officer who has gone to work with broken ribs, fractured fingers, but the pain from shingles reduced hin to tears! He's more afraid of shingles than a gun wielding law breaker! this has really left a deep impression on me, along with a desire to avoid shingles! I didn't know that some of our meds could cause it. It's too bad you are having to deal with this. I have no suggestions but wanted to let you know that you are not alone in having lots of pain from it! Ihope you can get it under control very soon, like in 2 minutes or less! Sending love, prayers and gentle hugs....
