My mom just started fulvestrant shots - she is very sore. Those of you who do this how long does it take for the pain to go away?

Women on fulvestrant - how long are you sore for?
I am so sorry to hear your mom is very sore. I have started the shots and this will be my 3 time next week. The past 2 times I was sore for about a week. But from I understand it is important to where the shots are placed just below the hips in the butt muscle. I heard to use a heating pad to ease the pain. I hope she feels better real soon.Cris
I posted last week about my experience with Faslodex and great and very helpful responses came in. So maybe do a search and you'll see. I reacted very poorly to my first shots. That lasted about 4 days but I must say I feel ok now. Better than I've felt in over 2 years on Ibrance/Letrozole.
I'm not so worried about my second set of shots on the 4th as I'm prepared for what to ask for. I took some Tylenol. Maybe they'll help your mom.
Wish her well🙏🙏
Thank you!
I have been on Faslodex since March of 2019. I experience soreness and itching after the shots for a few days. Sometimes I have bruising. Walking will help the soreness and massaging the area helps too. Good luck to your Mom.
I've had three rounds of shots and I agree with all the advice above. Heating pad, massage, and exercise have been good for me. I have some leg cramps and general "yuck" the first few days but it is a million times easier than Ibrance (so I hope its working)🤞🙏
I was sore for several days with the first shot. Not so much the second time. I’m waiting for my fourth as I type. My sister recommended standing pigeon toed while they inject. I’ve seen other recommendations (making sure the stuff is warmed, etc,). Sigh.
Hi there ! I agree with all the ladies on the board regarding massages afterwards, rubbing the area and walking and having them warm up the shots. HOWEVER ! (Yippee) I also learned a trick that helps enormously. When they are giving you the shots and your bending over, lift up the leg on the side they inject into. In other words do not put weight down on that leg as it causes your muscles to tense up . In that way, it's easier and less painful during the injection.
I have found it depends on placement of the shots. I now get them more on the side of my hip resulting in less pain.
Make sure they are also injecting very slowly as the mixture is thick. Agree with the rest of the suggestions.
Maybe try lying down for the shots. Good luck
