My mom used to have her ca 27.29 and ca 15-3 but her new oncologist tested something called Carcinoembryonic Antigen. It strangely was in the normal range when her 27.29 two weeks ago was very high at 83.
Thanks

Sandra so glad to see you back!! Thank you so much for your knowledgeable input! You where missed!!!! Barb was back a bit earlier now all we need is Nancy . I know you communicate with her . Tell her to hop on and just say HI. We would love to hear from her!
I was diagnosed MBC de novo in Dec. 2018. My oncologist has always reviewed both ca 15-3 and CEA tumour markers. Ca 15-3 is usually taken every month whereas CEA is only taken every 3-6 months. I have never had a test for ca 27-29.
My oncologist in Illinois used to test for CA 27-29 and CEA also. My oncologist in Florida only tests for CA 27-29. The last CEA test I had in Illinois was normal, even though my CA 27-29 was high. I have never had a CA 15-3 test done.
I agree! We should not be looking at tumor markers. Yes, they are given to us and we stress over them. They will fluctuate during treatment. Number one is taking care of your stress levels. So, this is a test that I disregard.p

Funny you say that because whenever I have something new comes up, my oncologist responds with,”Well, your labs look great, so.” 🧐
Can you expand on your comment? Something new?
Nice to see you back Sandra😊. If you are in touch with Andi (arisgram) please ask her how she is. She is my Xeloda buddy but she hasn’t replied to my last 2 private messages. I’m worried about her.
for me, with the mets dx, all three tumor markers are performed during the (four month) blood draw, particularly before the (eight month) scan, and used as a guideline. if i express something "feeling not right" prior to the scheduled blood work or scans, the onc will respond accordingly.
