I just finished my third week of Taxol, having a week off this week, start again next week. I do feel it more than the other treatments but am thankful I don't feel too sick. The cooling system thing is kind of working for me, did not qualify for assistance, the pocket book is tight but what the heck, want to see if I can hang onto my hair. I do have increased heartburn, decided to ask my general doc about looking at this, since it interferes with my energy level (am giving a stool sample today). I am more tired, I know that is normal. The hand/foot symptom is better, but the neopathy is alittle worse. When I type I have to really watch what I type, or my fingers don't want what my brain wants to type, some numbness/tingling in hands/feet. I do try to be active, it seems to help. I had a 'reaction' to the last treatment. During last treatment felt hot, a pressure on my chest, throat, difficutly breathing, blood pressure went up---let nurse know. He said my face looked red, then turned to normal color after he gave me benadrill (sorry misspelling). He immediately stopped treatment, gave me benadrill, felt better right away after that, gave me a break, then finished treatment. I will be given benadrill every time with treatment now. This gets you up to date with me. My fellow warriors, you are in continued thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear you are hanging in there. Yes Taxol’s toxicity is definitely some to get used to but sounds you are already half way there. My advice would be to listen to your body, sounds patronising but with hindsight I wish I had. I continued throughout My 6 months of taxol as I did with my previous 5 treatments and this caused my body to meltdown within 4 weeks of stopping... It is a tough treatment , give yourself time to adapt to it ... It is not a weakness but a strength to identify when you need to slow down.
So glad you're getting a handle on the taxol. I did it for several months and used the cold caps and have my hair after 18+ months of taxol, then taxotere. Keep with it. I had severe back pain during infusion and got quite a bit of bendryl as well. It would leave me wiped, but better than pain. I've taken Pepcid AC for the heartburn. Might ask your doc about it. Plus, I think I have every nausea drug known to man or woman. Took me several to find one that consistently works. Hang in there. :=)
Keeping hanging in there. They ice my hands and feet while I take the Taxol IV. I also am doing the cooling system for hair. Which one are you doing? I'm doing the cryo caps.
I'm on Abraxane, a close cousin of Taxol, and my doctor gave me a sheet about cold therapy today--holding small ice packs during treatment and perhaps ordering some special booties that can be packed with small icepacks for the feet. This is supposed to help with neuropathy. I can scan the document and post it if there's a way to do that here. I'll be trying that because the Abraxane is giving me good results, and I don't want to have to stop it early.
Two years ago I did three months of Taxol, experienced mild neuropathy, but that has completely gone away. Good luck to you!
