Does anyone experience nausea/throwing up while taking the Ibrance? I am taking the caplets and they seem to make me feel ill.

Hi Nadinebat70

I did feel quite unwell first month when I was on 125mg, after than my dose was reduced to 100mg and have been on that ever since (8 months) and have been ok - nausea has not been an issue. Could it be your diet? I take my meds in the evening with my meal and wash down with plenty of water.

Nadinebat70,

I’m sorry to hear this. I am fortunate to not have any ill side effects on Ibrance and anastrozole.

Really sorry to hear that. I felt pretty dreadful before I was on meds, so probably wouldnt have noticed. I was also on omeprazole for digestive issues already. They did say it might cause stomach problems, but I didn't notice anything. In fact pretty soon all my symptoms disappeared and I felt much better.

I'm on 125g.

I should talk to your nurse, key worker, if you have one. Perhaps they can suggest a way of helping til you adjust. For me ibrance and letrozole has been a miracle making me feel normal and energetic again. I'm just praying it lasts.

Hi Nadine,

I took nausea medicine right before I took 125mg. of Ibrance. The nausea didn't happen if I took the nausea meds first. About two years in I tried it without and had no nausea. I am three and a half years in and still no longer take nausea meds. I hope the nausea meds work for you. Ibrance has been a good chemo for me and I hope to get a nice long run on this. Blessings Hannah

Hi There, sorry they make you sick like that. I take a lactaid pill with my Ibrance and the next morning I was told to take a gas-x pill. I was having tummy issues and this has eliminated. The new Ibrance tablets taste yucky. Could that be part of what is turning your stomach?

Hope you find relief. Hugs Tara

When the new tablets came out I thought great, I don't have to worry about taking with food and can take them with all my other meds. However, that made me nauseous so I went back to taking them with a meal. I take my Letrozole and other meds in the morning and the Ibrance after dinner and no more nausea.

That's interesting. I take mine together with my breakfast. I was just told 'with food'.

I've been on Ibrance since February 2018. Inially I did feel ill if I did not eat before taking the meds. I also had a stint where I had terrible motion sickness while traveling. I just learned to eat before taking Ibrance and to alter the time of day when I took the meds if I was traveling. It made a wonderful difference. I also had a Rx for Zofran that I could take for the nausea. Luckily I have felt pretty good and these side effects have diminished.

I've been on Ibrance 125 mg for 5 months and Fulvestrant and I suffer from nausea daily. My onc told me to take omeprazole in the morning and then take the Ibrance with food at night. It helps a little bit, but still find it difficult with feeling sick so much. My mouth ulcers are always a problem too and had a nasty one on my gum that caused me having to have the tooth removed because of the pain and infection. I'm hoping things will settle down eventually.

Make sure you take your meds with food as it's absorbed better that way.

Hope you start to feel a bit "better" soon.

I’ve been on Ibrance 125 mg capsules for 4 1/2 years, I was switched to the tablets 3 months ago, since then have had nausea and heartburn. Asked doctor about it this week, she said she hadn’t had anyone else with these symptoms. I always take it at night and try to drink lots of water. I’ve had such good success with Ibrance, I don’t want to change a thing.

Ibrance makes me feel a little bit sick in the mornings for the first few days after a weeks break. My hospital offered meds to stop the feeling but I just drink loads of water even though I hate it and have ginger to settle my stomach.

Don’t suffer, tell your Oncologist or GP.

Hope it all settles

My onc perscription Zofran for the nausea. It works well. Be sure to eat before you take the Ibrance. Drink alot of water.

No but do you take a good refrigerated probiotic? That may be the issue. Bad gut will lead to nausea and throwing up.

I rarely feel nauseated so cannot offer any help or advice. Remember to take them with food. Hopefully, you can resolve this issue. Hugs Marlene

I did when I first started it but my onco also gave me an rx for anti-nausea pills but they did not work. So I started eating crackers and drinking warm ginger ale and that worked so much better and then my body got used to it and I didnt need to do that anymore. But I was only on Ibrance for three months Not bc my cancer spread, but the week off, was a horror for me and then I got an infection and bc my immune system was shot by the Ibrance, it turned into surgery so my onco took me off it. I never even knew (I was new to the game) that the dose could be lowered.
