Letrozole Palbociclib scalp pain hair loss

Burning tender scalp, feels like a chemical burn.

Major sudden hair loss after 7 months.

I am on Letrozole & Palbociclib.

Anyone with this experience?

What treatment did you Oncologist give you as a response?

Full facial exzema also occurred at the same time. I feel it is definitely related.

I am on Ibrance and Letrozole and I have periodic head pain - like having a too tight ponytail in for too long. I have this Pura D'Or scalp spray that probably cost way too much but it feels good to spray on my head when it really hurts. I think it is probably just essential oils and biotin.

I also have recurring excema during the month - mostly on my hand. It clears up and then comes right back so I am just trying to live with it.

Hi WaveCatcher

You are not alone with these side effects. I also get periodic head pain as Iwasborntodothis described so accurately - like having a too tight ponytail in for too long. I lost about a third of my hair about 4-5 months into the same treatment. Thankfully it is slowly growing back but if I tie my hair back I look like a scarecrow on a damp day! Damn cancer - but still so grateful for the treatment (even with the side effects). I hope they lesson over time for you. Take care.

We are all in the same boat, my head sometimes hurts. Hadn't thought about what the pain feels like - but the too tight ponytail is a good description. It is probably the Ibrance that is causing the thinning. I have that too. Better at times and worse at times. Blessings, Hannah

I have the very same side effects with Kisqali. Since I am on my 19th round they have gradually gotten better. I still lose the hair but not as much as in the first months of taking the medicine. Hopefully time will lessen the effects.

Best,

Audrey

I am almost at the end of my 7th cycle of Ibrance and Letrozole. Hair shedding loads. I have always had thick hair especially after chemo 5 years ago. The daily shed is really affecting me and I am just hoping it will stop soon and have hair growth. There seems to be shifting and burning on my scalp . Has anyone had hair growth whilst still on this treatment and more or less when. The good news is that I am already in remission

I had a serious case of this last November & December. In my case, turns out it was 100% attributable to my hair care products. About 3 weeks after ditching the offenders, my scalp returned to normal, no more pain & my hair loss has slowed considerably.

The offenders were Devacurl products, shampoo, conditioner, stylers & the mister refresh spray.
