ONJ Checkup

So, I attended my dental appointment this morning. Strict rules in place for safety but the key was lost to unlock the dentist chair and let it down. I finished up waiting 30minutes and starting to panic as nobody let me know what was happening until I complained. Anyway, I have more exposed jaw bone. I thought I had as I can feel it. It’s sharp where a piece had to be broken off by the Consultant before. My Dentist said there should be some way the Consultant can seal the tooth socket and stop this happening. I thought, here we go again. Anyway I have to be referred back to the Facial/Cranial specialist at another hospital for their opinion. Barbteeth I did say I would let you know. The area is a little sore but no infection thank goodness. I was told by the Consultant before that they would leave well alone after removing 5 very small fragments of bone. There was no stitches involved. Yet another thing for me to be concerned about. I hope all you lovely, helpful ladies are having a good day.

Best wishes

Cheryl

I hope you get it all sorted out you have been through a lot. Not feeling that great at the moment feels like a flu like thing but no high temp. Wish you all the best

Could it be allergy reaction. So much pollen around now. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Cheryl,

I can understand why you were panicking. Not knowing why you are having to wait so long must have been really worrying. I hope you get to see the specialist at the hospital soon so that you can get this sorted out.

Take care,

Sophie

Thank you. The dentist said I shouldn’t have to wait to long for an appointment

Hi Cheryl

What a brave soul you were.

So pleased there is no sign of infection. The nhs is starting to make tentative steps towards putting servixes back in place, so hopefully you won’t have too long a wait.

Thank you Clare. Yes the NHS are working hard. I’m so pleased we are already in the system.

Best wishes

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for letting me know...I wouldn’t be too concerned if there’s no infection but would just have a follow up examination with a consultant to put your mind at rest

Good news though

Thanks Barb. Yes I will see the Consultant as and when. I just wish my Oncologist could help in some way. He doesn’t know anything about my jaw bone. He just says I will leave it to the Dentist to decide whether you should have Denosumab injections or not. Everything was ticking along nicely until I went back on the injections after a 7months break because of my jaw bone. Now I’ve started back on them (had 2 since March) the problem has started again. I was coping with the socket (hole) in my gum now the bone is exposed again. Hope you are ok today.

Cheryl

That’s kind. Thank you Sandra.

Hi Cheryl,

I have been thinking about you and wishing you the best with your ONJ. Make sure you get lots of Vitamin C so you can fight infections. But it sounds like you have things under control. I am glad you are getting help from your doctors. I hope you have stopped the drugs that bring this on. Hugs Marlene

Hi Marlene. I take VitC every day and drink orange juice. I am going to decline the Denosumab injections which caused the problem to start off with. My Oncologist will understand that and has stated before that the injections are a safe guard against the onset of Osteoporosis. I’m sure there is something else I can have as suggested by some of the nice ladies on here. Best wishes. Have a good weekend.
