Hi all, just wondering if anyone’s MBC is ER+ with heterogeneity in their breast cancer cells? I asked my mum’s oncologist what this meant and he said it meant that some cells aren’t all the same so some are more ER+ than others and some less.. this whole thing just get’s more baffling and confusing as time goes on 😕

That was never mentioned to me and it's the first time I heard that word and I am ER/PR+ and HER2-, but it makes sense to me that all the cells aren't don't have exactly the same amount of estrogen in each cell.
I found this if it makes you feel any better.

Heterogeneity is not something to be afraid of, it just means that there is variability in your data. "
Try not to overthink everything, it will drive you crazy. Since your oncologist told you what it meant and he/she did not seem upset than don't worry too much.

Thank you for your reply.. I think my mums oncologist said she has small expression of heterogeneity in her cells xx
