Good news form the scan front...stable and some shrinkage and calcification! Dr very pleased with continued stability of breast cancer. He asked me to participate in a study he is doing along with Harvard and Dana Farber to study why some women do better on meds. I’ve been on Ibrance/Letrozole since May 2018. I’m excited about his work and hope that it will help all of us in this boat upstream without paddles.
On the work front I’m happy to report that I love my new part time reception job. It gets me up and out early and home before noon. I’ve met some lovely people and it is very low stress. The best part is sometimes I get to rock the babies that is the best!

Are you being treated at Dana Farber? If so, who is your oncologist? My oncologist in VT consults with Dana Farber but I’m thinking of just going to DF.
13 plus, I’m in a study not a clinical trial. They are seeking 5,000 women to be in this study to examine genetic and biological factors. Although there are many clinical trials existing, I am not familiar with how to seek one. I believe you need to ask your Onc. Blessing and good health to you.❤️
Yes, your luck has already changed! Be happy! I am much better and filing papers and having meetings to solidify retirement. I am out of sick time, so no more paycheck. Have onc appt Monday. Scans pending. This week was hit with stomach bug Ugh I am looking forward to taking a break when all this is settled. So happy for you.
I agree! The colder weather brings the flu and colds but at least it is the end of February and things should improve. I have a sore throat and fear a cold is coming on. I do not want anything to interfere with my cruise in late March.
Thank you Sandra, it gives me hope I’ll be around next year. The past two years has been an adjustment to say the least...sometimes nightmarish. My job does provide extra money and allows me to buy organic sometimes. I hope you have good scan results next week, I think of you often in Canada. My mom’s family is from Quebec. How is your husband doing?

Wow, congratulations on the great news! And thanks for sharing!
Plus, thank you for participating in the study...anything to help the cause!
What a great report and also an opportunity to help others by being in the study! I envy you having a job that has a side benefit of holding babies! I’m happy for all your good news!
Thank you Elaine! I hope they discover something good for us all.
Congratulations on the great news. Also congratulations on the part time job. You can work but not tire yourself out and holding babies is a big bonus ❤️
So happy for your wonderful news! I also got good news Friday after a CT scan and MRI scan. Both were great scans! Tumors have shrunk in size, and there was no evidence of any additional tumors! It had been 1.5 years since my last scan, so I was very nervous and anxious. So glad we BOTH got good news for a while!
Best to get more data but I know waiting is the worst for him. I hope he is feeling better soon and that you do not catch it. I will be thinking of you next Friday and hope you have good news too.
Great news!! I'm on same meds, a few months ahead of you. Will hit the 2 year mark in March (soon!). My dr calls me the "poster child" for these drugs. Love it when more and more are joining the poster child category!!
Tam 56, (Chris). Too funny that you and I were both diagnosed in May 2018 also! And girlsptz (Sandra? ). My Metavesary is on 3dr May . Coming up. And I can’t help but think of what it’s like for newbies to come here and read such positive things. Also, important to read the harder things that we all go through, as we all know it’s not always a walk in the park. But go you good thing! Fantastic that’s there is some shrinkage! Wow! I would be celebrating if I was you. 🥂🥂🥂
How is it with Letrazole and Ibrance. I have been on Letrazole since last October and I am starting Ibrance tomorrow. How are you doing with the side effects? From what I read, I got quite scared.
Wish you well as you start Ibrance ...I hope you get many many cycles on it ( I have had 28 cycles on it well over 2 years now, and have tolerated it well so far , so I wish you the same ! Biggest tip I can give is to drink lots of water , keep moving and rest when your body tells you to ! Take care and do feel free to ask any questions on here x
I read it is best to take Ibrance with a meal containing fat and protein , for better absorption of the meds ,
(at any time as long as it’s the same time each day) , so I have mine after my main meal at 7pm daily and a large glass of water with it . I even have a water bottle by my bed ! Keeping well hydrated is crucial ! I have never had sickness from it .
I don’t take supplements or do anything different ...and just eat a balanced diet ( I have always been vegetarian but eat dairy , and I have treats too ( I have a sweet tooth ! ).
You will find people all have their own way of living on this protocol , and this has worked for me , so far ...I became ‘stable’ within a few months of starting on it and for the 3 ct scans I have had after starting on it!🤞Hope you do well on it too ! x
I have always had fine hair anyway , but I did notice my hair thinning all over very soon after starting on Ibrance . It was quite alarming at first , but as it thinned all over , it was not as noticeable ( not like on chemo ) , and it appeared to stop by the 8th month . I had my shoulder length hair cut into a short chin length bob , to make it look fuller , along with a few blonde foil highlights every few months . If you didn’t know me , you would think I just have fine hair and I am fifty six . So it’s not as bad as it could be! Just make the most of what you have got ... some ladies get hair extensions , some prefer a nice wig , I make what I have got look fuller, with the help of a great hairdresser, my own age , who understands . She has also said that if I ever do need a wig , she will cut it to look like my usual style !
I’m glad I can be of help , as all the ladies on here have been for me . I can only tell you about Ibrance as my bc started just over 2 years ago and went straight to mets ( de novo) , and this is what I have been on since my bc diagnosis . Keep yourself busy and try not to think about it too much ...it got easier after the first 4 months . Hope the same for you too x 🤗
Thank you. I am 65 but I have been generally healthy and in good shape and now I am agonizing about all this. I had my double mastectomy in 2012 and now I have some cancer spots in my spine. Where do you have your mets?
Mine were low volume :- 2 areas of the pelvis and just tiny specks on an area of the spine . I had a right mastectomy end 2017 and then elected to have a breast reduction on my left side end 2018 ( while having Ibrance /Letrozole treatment!) . X
