Letrozole

I have been on Letrozole and Ibrance since May of last year and doing well. The newly refilled Letrozole prescription is a different tablet and when I inquired with the BriovaRX pharmacy they said they switched from Canadian mfg to one in India. Has anyone else experienced this change with Letrozole? Don’t know if the quality is the same?? 😳

Yes I noticed the change in packaging and the pills are a different colour. I expected some

Sort of reaction but so far I don’t have a problem with them. I’m on Ibrance and Letrozile for 14 months and consider myself lucky to have only experienced minor side effects. The main problem for me is dry and itchy skin. I’m now taking daily 10 minute baths in E45 bath Emolient and that seems to calm my skin down.

Does it a actually say they’re from India on the packet or accompanying leaflet?

What colour are they?

I assumed that the drugs are all the same regardless of who makes them..now I have a seed of doubt..ugh

Wow? India! Crap another quality control issue, I hope not!

I checked with Walmart pharmacist and their supplier is Teva in Israel. I don’t know what happened with our supplier in Canada.

I wouldn’t worry a lot less about Israel and quality control then I would India

Honestly I would request no drugs of any kind from India. No offense to anyone from India, my concern is quality and correct drug

Really, one more worry.

I used to do a lot of work in India. I understand that the country we see is dirty, but when it comes to their global manufacturing I trust them more than America! They are brutal on detail and transparency. Please don't worry.

Most fear comes from not knowing. Thank you.

I just got my letrozole refilled today. I too have a sticker attached to the cap that said some tablets in bottle look different ( Different Manufacturer). I thought the same thing what if this new supplier isn't as good. But my husband said what if they are better!! I guess when it comes to this it's like we are participating in a clinical trial. If it's cost of suppliers you would think Canada a boarder country would be less expensive then India a country half way around the world!!

I know, you would think our close neighbors would be the best suppliers.

Your insurance will buy the generic version from the lowest bidder on the contract they establish sh with the manufacturer. I am confident they will buy excellent versions of letrozole! Can you imagine the lawsuits if they weren't🤔

That is the goal these days...I have never liked taking meds, ever. I do now though. Need to relax a bit and go with the changes that come.

Girlsptz, thank you for your response. Yes it’s all about keeping costs down.

Hi Tam,

The packaging of my Letrozole tablets changed recently too. I don't know who the previous supplier was, but the one who currently manufactures mine is called Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Europe B.V. which is based in the Netherlands.

Mine look the same but I can tell you that a majority of drugs that you buy from Canadian pharmacies come from India originally.

I didn’t know that.

Generic drugs are only required by the FDA to have 85% of the name brand drug so the remaining 15% can be whatever the manufacturer chooses. Brenkenridge is the supplier from India and Teva is the supplier from Israel. My oncologist writes my prescription for Teva only without any substitutions. My pharmacy complies but sometimes if it isn't in inventory has to order it for me and I am charged the same price regardless of the manufacturer. I just feel that Israel would have better oversight than India.

We really could be twins. I too am still doing well except for the pain in bones, spine, hips, ribs and skull. Let’s keep up the good work.
