3rd weekly Taxol update.

I had my third treatment Thursday. I feel great no nausea loss of appetite. I am expecting deep bone pain in legs on day three after treatment. It will last about 4 days. The first week I tried a 30 mg of pot candy, slept well woke up with no pain. 2 week I waited till pain came and put up with it for three days to see if it was same as last week. Third night I took the candy woke up pain gone. This week if it starts I am going to take it first night. Because I will have to see each week if I am going to get the pain.

Otherwise I feel great. My WBC has dropped this week from 7.3 to 3.5 so I guess doctor will give me something to bring it up next week.have not lost any hair yet, so we will see next week

So far I am very happy with the TAXOL AND I hope it is kicking my cancers butt.

Sounds great. I wound up giving myself shots of nupogen for low wbcs. No huge deal but you do get some bone pain fm it. Good luck!

I’m glad you’re tolerating it well. You’re very positive and inspiring. 30 mg! I’ve done 10 or 20 mg but 30 mg will last longer I assume. Keep us posted! ❤️

Everyone has been trying to get me to try it. But I only have a aback ache after I am on my feet for a long time and it will go away when I sit for a half hour. But the deep bone pain in my legs hurts. So if I just need a piece of candy once a week during chemo that is not bad. And it did take the pain away go the rest of the week. I did buy som hemp cbd oil to try but will use up the candy first. Plus you need to take the cbd oil everyday. Don't know if I am ready for that. So one day at a time. But this week if the pain comes I will take right away.

Hello! I just ask about bone pain, Will you tell me about the pot candy?

I was good the day of chemo and two days later. Third day I would get deep bone pain in my legs. My daughter gave me a candy ribbon that was an edible marijuana with hcg. I only ate about an inch of it, but it took the pain away and let me sleep. I only used it on very bad days but it worked.

Hope you don't get the pain everyone is different.

Will be thinking of you. Let me know how you do.

In the past, taking Taxol, it was scary with the deep bone pain and found no relief from anything then--although I did not take any cannibis products. That and neuropathy were my only fears from the drug. It is a power medicine with great results. So, I will be eager to hear what happens with yours. I take cbd oil now for basic pain, arthritis totally messed up discs, etc. and find the super high grade very effective for that--only one drop! This is quite remarkable as I have even canceled my epidurals. But I remain curious and positive about other tintures of cannibis but just not sure what and where. it is legal in MD now but it is so new this year I figure alot of people don't know much.

I know, we went to our local medical supply pharmacy to get some true info on CBD oil. She sold my husband and I both a bottle 300mg and said to take one dropper a day. I am not going to start now. But he started this week. Hoping it will help his sore back, thumb legs. You get it. Hope it helps him.

How much and often do you take, how long did it take to start working?

How did you do yesterday with your treatment?

Jerseygirl45 profile image
Jerseygirl45

I have arthritis bad in knees, one shot left next week. Should keep me good for about 6 months.

But with the Taxol it is a deep ache from waist down in my bones. It usually starts on Sunday so we will see.

I am so glad you are not having a hard time on Taxol either. It was so scary thing about for the months before and we are both doing well🙏

Worked great for me. I did lose my hair but it has grown back. It's gray now though - was brunette. I didn't get sick or have a problem and it did do it's job. I'm on Herceptin now with no problems other than fatigue and joint pain. Good luck on your journey.

So happy for you! I hope it continues to go well for you!

Great news - you hear so many negative and scary reports about chemo and it is encouraging to hear that it is not necessarily so unbearable... so many of us doubtless have that route still to run so thank you for the encouragement.

All the best with your progress

You are welcome. I guess they have improved treatment protocols a lot. They seem to be able to fix a lot of the discomfort with meds so we don't get so sick.

Won't talk too soon have a way to go yet.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Thank you, my daughter lives in Denville, she loves it there. I am in Bayonne, close to New York, Hoboken etc.

It is day three after chemo so my legs are hurting again. Should be better in a day or two.

I took Taxol weekly and lost my hair the first month or two. After I stopped Taxol it grew back pretty quickly. I have been on Herceptin every 3 weeks ever since and will be until I can no longer tolerate it. So far so good and it doesn't make me sick either. I have been very lucky with side effects other than joint pain and fatigue - if you can ever call having cancer lucky! I am stage IV metastatic breast cancer that spread to my lungs but the chemo has kept it from going further so far. I also take Anastrozole daily which is bad for my joints but it is working. Taking it day by day as we all must.

Happy things are headed in the right direction for you! I take a few drops of hemp oil at nite to relieve anxiety, and it helps to get me to sleep. I take it on a need to have basis.

Hi Barbara,

How are you feeling? I hope that you are still doing well with your current treatment plan.

Take care,

Hi Barbara,

Thanks for the update. It's so encouraging to hear how well you are doing with chemotherapy and to know when to expect certain side effects so you can manage on those days you are not feeling 100%. Let's hope your current treatment will put you into remission for a very long time.

Take care,

Sophie x

So glad your treatments are going well and that you haven't had to use your wig yet!!! I just did my 4th treatment (I had to skip a week because of low counts), and I am doing well. I got my human hair wig and love it. I can curl it to make it look more like I used to. I hope all of the very best for you!!!! You have 8 more to go, right??

Hey Mary

I was just thinking of you. How are your treatments going?

I had to start wearing my wig this week. Hair not all gone but looks horrible. Really can't go out with it. Did not have the nerve to shave it off yet. I am having 7th treatment 'this week. What one are you up to? Do you get all achy a few days after.?

I now have to have the shot the day after chemo to raise WBC. But all in all I am doing well

Hope you are doing well also.

Hi Barbara, I just finished my 6th infusion yesterday. I have shaved my head after treatment 3 because I couldn't stand my hair going everywhere! I have a few wigs, my human hair one is the best! Definitely worth the extra money. I have fun wearing all of my wigs, my cashmere hats, and my bald head (only at home and the cancer center). My students have fun wondering what wig I will wear next! Yes, I agree, I am achy a few days later. I think it's the steroid (pre-med) wearing off. My worst side effect right now is neuropathy. Luckily it is only in my feet. Do you have that? I am so hoping it doesn't go to my hands. If it does, I may have to switch treatments. I am on this one indefinitely - as long as I can tolerate it. Would you tell me why your doc only has you doing 12 treatments? What will you do next? Where are your mets? I have them to bones and liver.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me! It is so helpful to find people on the same treatment.

Mary

I Mary,

I just noticed yesterday that my feet feel strange. Did not think of neuropathy because I have both big toe joint replacements and figured it was that. I do not want to switch treatments.

My oncologist said 12 treatments if I can tolerate them and then it would be back on Ibrance or something . Did not pick up my human hair wig from salon yet. But I do have a few others , they feel strange as if the are sliding up. Guess I will get used to them.

I did not have the nerve to shave head yet, not much left though.

My food has started to taste like metal, how about you? The only thing that taste good is sweet things.

I don't know how you work everyday , at least if I have a tired day I can sit down.

But I am so glad you are doing well on treatment also.

Tomorrow will be my 7th , and I do not want petscan until all 12 are done.

You have a good day and I will talk to you soon.
