Scans
Hi
Mine are 3 monthly
Seems to me if you have scans every 9 months then you probably have a slow growing cancer as your oncologist doesn’t need them more than that
Just my thoughts
Barb xx
She did say it was slow growing. I should have had scans this month but it got messed up. She did say she was fine waiting till April so I guess I just have to trust her. She has been my dr for 8 years now and my hope is she knows what’s she doing. Thanks for responding 💕
My scans are every 3 months. Bless you that yours are every 9 months!
Sometimes mine are closer to a year. This year they are 6 months because a few lesions got bigger and I was switched from letrozole to faslodex. Fingers crossed.
Mine were every 6 months, then changed doctors and now they are every 3 months. What a blessing to only have them done every 9 months
I'm a long timer--nearly 15 year --and I"ve gone years between scans at times. As long as I've been symptom free and TMs haven't been shooting up, we've not done scans. I have bone mets only and a slow growing E+ cancer that responds well to hormonal treatment. We have not done scans at regular intervals fora long time and I don't remember how often I got them the first two or three years.
I'm every 4 months. I would freak at longer because of how my journey with MBC started.
I have PET scan every 3 months and thought that was pretty normal.
I have a CT scan every 3-4 months with contrast to see my colon and intestines where BC doesn’t go...I have bone mets and we haven’t done a bone scan in 2 years...I suggested a Pet scan to scan for everything including brain mets and my bone mets but was told no...but hey what do I know? 😱🤣😱
Hi Marianne,
The norm for MBC is 3 months on treatment. On the other hand, I am supposed to schedule approximately every 6 months because, #1 I want to limit radiation, and my clinical exams have been good so far with no alarm signs. If something was in question, then doc would suggest getting sooner. I was due right before Christmas at 6 month point and refused at that time. It is 7 months now and I decided to schedule. No idea what I’ll find but that’s the plan! So I say, listen to your body and trust what you know to be true and right and discuss , or not, with your oncologist
Go for it!!! I, personnally, feel better not having the scans too often. But that is me.
I have scans every three months to 6 months first to check that your medication is working and then according to your symptoms so I listen and watch my body some oncologist are very lay back but it is your life and the other thing is our insurance to be approved they have to request it with a good reason take care and God bless you
Mine is every 3 months.
I have PET scans every 6-7 months and I also feel better not having the scans very often!
I have had bone mets since first cancer diagnosis in 2004 and since the first couple of years I've not had scans by the calendar but only when it looks as though there may be progression. I have had years between scans at times and have done really well.
