Aimee ... I have also and we just purchased a sunlighten Infared sauna . From all the research I have seen: the infared will help destroy the weaker cells and blood vessels. It will kill off germs such as you get with a cold. I have had a small sauna for years and rarely got colds but now with a greater importance, we purchased a 2 person infared and it is fantastic - best money I have spent in years!!! I have Mets to my bones and lungs and with the side effects of Letrizole and Ibrance, I am sore and achy a lot of the time, with the new sauna, it has really helped my pains. If you want more info - I am such a fan!!! Please let me know. AND .. I have pet scan tomorrow and this is the only change I have made so I will be able to see if (in my opinion) the addition of the sauna has made a difference in the actual cancer ♥️

Please give me any info you have!! Good luck with scans. I just got results from my scans since starting treatment and am thrilled to report that it has not progressed and tumors in lungs have shrunk!! It's truly a Christmas miracle. Prayers for you!!

Hi Aimee

I’ve looked up the company that makes and fits the infrared saunas

They do state that they promise no specific benefits for diseases

They also advise you to check with a medical professional if you have cancer as it’s not suitable for all cancers

Did you get the go ahead from your oncologist?

I have never heard about sauna as a cancer treatment. I wonder if it would make us more susceptible to lymphedema because of the surgeries, removal of nodes and radiation. I hope it helps. It sure would be nice. Blessings, Hannah

Not a treatment but the cancer cells and the tumor blood vessels do not stand up to heat in the way that normal cells do. The infrared sauna (which is VERY different than a normal steam sauna), further weakens the cancer cells making the treatment medications able to be more effective and CAN kill off the weaker cells. This is the research I have discovered. Had my 1st pet scan after using my infrared today so I am eager to see the results.

Hi Terilyn,

Would you mind posting an update when you hear more from the results of your PET CT scan? I would be interested to learn if infrared saunas can prove helpful for us. I have been researching infrared saunas in the UK and have emailed someone to find out more about a place near me that I would like to visit.

I will!! I can say that my neutrophil hovers around .2 -.3 (I know ...so low, but I have a hemotology oncologist who checks my blood every week) and after 2 weeks using sauna went from .2 to .4 !! I haven’t been at .4 in a very long time - I will get counts again next week ... as well as scan numbers ♥️

Thank you! That sounds really positive and encouraging. I am keen to give it a go too. All the best with your health. It sounds like you are doing really well. x

I hope the sauna eases your side effects. Scandinavians have been using sauna (maybe not infrared) for centuries and praise the health benefits. They go out into the snow, take a dip in a cold lake and then go into the sauna. But they still get cancer. Lots of things kill cancer cells in the lab - even tap water. But once cancer cells are in the body, it’s a whole other story. Cancer cells are strong and crafty. They can change their physical makeup to suit the environment. I wouldn’t count on heat, from whatever source, to kill cancer cells specifically. But heat can help with side effects as has been mentioned already. Good luck with your treatment.

Thanks for posting. I've never heard of this but please keep us informed if you find any additional information about it's ability to harm cancer cells. We never know where the next treatment may come from.

Great topic! So excited to see this! )

I have been looking into the exact same thing for the past week! The NIH (.gov) has published several studies re: Far Infrared Radiation (FIR) and a possible effect on cancer cells. If folks google, you'll find a lot of stuff... Here's one: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

**I happened to ask my One about this when I saw her two days ago...She said "It could help, won't hurt". She owns one, for aches/pains. **

I looked at full-blown FIR saunas, and they are not only a bit of an investment but, like, where would I put it? Plus, I split my time between different locations -- i'm in my primary home maybe 20% of the time? -- so I dipped my toe in with a high-quality, very portable Far Infrared Heating Pad from Amazon (plus bought two as gifts!).

They seem to run between $99 and $400....many have stones to amplify the effect, e.g. tourmaline. i thought maybe this was pseudo-science, except one of the NIH studies I read literally had a paragraph about tourmaline in their paper on FIR!

The good ones have the right "dose" of whatever it is they emit (7-14 microns)...

** Also, I googled for local places that offer FIR saunas, e.g. in a spa environment, and found a bunch of local options, many on GROUPON. So my daughter and I are going tomorrow to check it out. I bought a series of 6 sessions for about $15 / session...

I'm way into this idea... I just love to find new things that could nudge things in my direction...and even simply the visualization of that heat/light zapping cancer cells...Well, that's reason enough to try it out! :)

Here's another NIH study... ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Just ordered my pad off Amazon! Thank you so much for the info and articles!! It's worth a shot and more practical than a big sauna in my house. Have a wonderful holiday season and good luck with treatment.

i've been using an infrared sauna for five years. Sunlighten is the brand i use. they frequently have specials for purchasing the products.

I have had commercial Sunlighten sauna for a long time in my wellness center and now have used for my cancer for over 2.5 years. It helps with detox from scans and my pain. I do feel a difference. We can’t make claims of course but I will do anything to keep my cancer at bay. There is a protocol if you are doing to get hot enough to ‘kill’ cancer cells (again not a claim) that I have from my naturopathic oncologist. We have to explain to regular oncologists as patients.
