Dreading Scan.....

Hello Ladies, I’m doing the dreaded scan over thinking thing. I’m scheduled next Thursday and scared to death. I might need a little encouragement for this one. It’s been 5 months since last one. That’s because I was pulled off Ibrance in April after 3 weeks and Verzenio in May. So he told me since I had Chemo for 6 months then Ibrance and Verzenio that canceled my vacation he was giving me time off. I’m just taking Faslodex and know that I need targeted therapy for best results. So if I can please get some prayers I would appreciate it. I know you all understand that scan feeling. When I tell people and friends there like oh it will be fine, they mean well but don’t really understand. Thanks so much...Clair ❤️

Hi Clair

When I got scanned recently I asked for and got all kinds of support here. Like you said, the ladies here really know what it’s like so can offer a deeper understanding of what you’re feeling than your loved ones and acquaintances. Somebody posted something really wise. At scan time she asks “That what is needed to be known is made known.” That really helped me center myself. My scans were ok but not great. Treatments were changed. And we’ll see. Yes I got a little teary. who doesn’t want things to get even better or at least stay totally stable. And I’ve had scans like that too. There are so many treatments to fight this and more coming. I told myself whatever it is already exists. Thank God they can do these scans and see if different treatments are needed to keep you going strong. Of course that’s all pragmatic and intellectual, and the fears are emotional and visceral. Stay busy. If you get an anxious thought observe it briefly but don’t feed in to it. If you pray or meditate that should help keep you calmer. I don’t think there is any miracle to totally beat scanxiety. Planning my next vacation is a diversion that has helped me throughout this whole journey. Sending positive thoughts your way. You are not alone. let us know how you do. 💕

Thanks for that, I feel selfish when I post things concerning myself. Makes total since that I should be glad we have the technology to see cancer. Thanks again I feel better. ❤️

I think we all deserve to be heard. Especially when we are afraid, lonely or depressed. We have al been through and continue to go through too much. I feel good and find strength in trying to lift the next person up if I can. I know there will be times when I am that one who needs an extended hand and heart. It certainly is not like we are looking for attention! God knows we get plenty of that with all our doctor and treatment visits, trips to pharmacies, calls to insurance companies.and add some shrink visits in there for me !😝 I know what you mean, though. Lately my posts have been like treatises. I think this place is one place where there is no judgement and so many kind and caring sisters. As someone else here said, this is the club you never wanted to join. We are all in it together. 🌈

Clair you stated that your taking only falsodex, I know you stated you were a nurse. I'm taking falsodex and xgeve monthly. Could you please explain to me what faslodx does? I ask my doc he just says stop estrogen. Thank you!

Clair19 profile image
Clair19 in reply tokduck

Yes it helps to block our hormones so they don’t produce. Mostly because most stage 4 breast cancer is hormone fueled, the cancer has hormones that attaches to the cells and it grows. The Faslodex blocks this. I hope that helps.

Thinking of you Clair and hoping an overwhelming sense of Peace overcomes you as you wait. The hardest part is waiting sometimes. When I'm at my scans I visualize Jesus holding my hand as I'm screened. Sometimes He even smiles at me like it's all going to be ok. Because it usually is. We're never alone. You have been such a support to others here, that I know your positivity will take you far. Sending you a huge hug and praying. He's got this👆🏻⚓️🌊🙏🏻

Clair19 I have had breast cancer on and off since 1984 (8 surgeries). Been through it all - Lumpectomies, Masectomies, Chemo, Radiation 3T. Currently no cancer is active but I was on Ibrance and Faslodex for a year and 8 months. I get sooo exhausted that I complained a little to my oncologist who took me off Ibrance for a month. He believes Faslodex is very effective even by itself. I too have to go in for the dreaded scan in November. But I have great faith, believe in prayer, and am convinced God has me here for a reason (since I'm still around). I know your feelings and will definitely keep you in prayer. Keep busy, keep a positive mind and pray intermittently - even while you wash clothes! Always thank God for what he has given you - your faith and your health. One thing because of my faith, I believe in redemptive suffering - whatever you are going through, mental or physical, can be offered to God as a help to others. Only He knows what to do with your suffering!

God bless and many prayers for you.

Thanks so much very well said. You are right I need to stay busy. It seems the scans are so mentally challengeing. Your words of encouragement will help. You have been a real inspiration to me and many. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.❤️

Oh Gosh!! We all

Know that feeling all too well. Next month for this gal and the brain wheels are already working overtime.

My go to is staying super busy so my mind stays off of the scans for even just a few minutes at a time. Movies, puzzles, sewing, cooking. Anything that actually requires your attention and focus.

Praying for no new “spots” and that the Faslodex is working it’s magic. Please let us know-good or not so good so we can help support.

You’ve got this sister!! Becky

Thanks so much! I’m praying that the Faslodex is working out for me. My index only went up 10 points after not being on anything since April. So I think that’s why I’m so nervous. But I will pray for you next month. I will post when I find out which is the 13th my next appointment. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.❤️

Greetings: Sister, and yessssssss warrior . I pray God will answer your prayers, and deliver you from this disease. Worry has no good purpose, except to help cancer thrive, but faith is the greatest opponent to this disease. Where two or more are gathered in this prayer, God is in the midst, and there is power over any challenge. Amen XoXoXoXo
