Hi I’m new here & wld insight. I was told that I COULD benefit from chemo, but it’s up to me. Asking if anyone has info. (BTW: early detection, Stage 1, tumor removed, lymph node positive HER2)
OncoDX #18: Hi I’m new here & wld... - SHARE Breast Canc...
OncoDX #18
I would look at my family history and if there isn't a concern, skip the chemo. I've been through 5 primary cancers, and can tell you that chemo can be awfully taxing. Two of the cancers were breast - first the right in 2004 and the left in 2009 - both primaries and very different etymologies. Because of other issues I wasn't a candidate for preventative tamoxifen, which would not have prevented the second breast cancer anyway- if you can take tamoxifen or something like it, you may want to skip chemo. Let us know what you decide
I’m 49 and also stage 1 hormone positive with no lymph node spread. My Oncotype score was 21, so I did chemo.
Thanks ladies! So I decided skip chemo and just begin my treatment with radiation.
My onco score was 6, so I was low risk. I chose radiation. I had no lymph node involvement. My concern is with lymph node involvement the cancer could be elsewhere in the body. Radiation is isolated to the one area. I do think I i may have done chemo but it is definitely a personal choice. I guess it depends on your age and tolerance vs risk of it spreading.
I had Stage 1 ER+, HER2+ no lymph node involvement. Oncotype score was 17. I had a lumpectomy and 33 radiation treatments and then was on Tamoxifen for 10 years.
