Nice article, Catwoman! It confirms something I've learned in the 10 years since my breast-cancer diagnosis: Breast cancer may be the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me personally, but I've come to understand that many, many people have equally traumatic health events: heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, mental illness, etc. They don't necessarily talk about their illnesses, and their illnesses may not be treated with drugs that have obvious side effects like hair loss, but they're serious, life-limiting diseases. So even though we breast-cancer survivors may feel alone sometimes, we're actually surrounded by many others in similar straits--who often can offer us ideas about how to handle adversity.
