When i was asked if i do anal sex by lady at a GUM clinic i said no.But i just thought after i have done unprotected anal with one guy of whom i have also done unprotected vaginal sex with but it was about 7 years ago.Should i have tests for anal stis as well? I agree wish there was more discussion here in general. Dr. Webberley always does - but there is not the same dialogue here like in other categories. I would like to ask more questions but I likely won't because it feels awkward when no one responds.
Hi, sorry for the late reply, this is a really good question and one that many women ask. You are quite right that if you have vaginal and anal sex with the same guy, then vaginal swabs will be enough. Also, infections from 7 years ago would have shown up one way or another by now and certainly would show up on the blood tests I expect you had done. Anal swabs are important when this is the main type of intercourse, and they would only be looking for Chlamydia and Gonnorrhoea. I hope this helps.
