Hello & thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear that you are still experiencing discomfort, are you due a follow up post procedure appointment soon? it would be advisable to contact clinic if the discomfort continues. Take care Tracy
Hi there, I'm 68 and had two stents last Tuesday. The following day I had a dull ache in my chest, they did an ECG and a ultra sound on my heart and pronounced me OK, the heart was pumping well and the valves were operating perfectly. Now a week later I still have an ache, I'm putting it down to bruising during the procedure. I've also got a lot of trapped wind, from the new medicines I guess, manifesting itself in pain across the back of my shoulders and rather a lot of burping. My nurse is phoning me on Wednesday I will discuss it with her then.
Thanks JohnH100. I am a month down the road, I would have thought it should have settled by now. I have just spoken to follow up nurse. She is emailing cardiologist. See what she says. Hopefully it will settle. Thanks again.
I am 55 and had an LAD stent about a year ago. It is frustrating, but probably normal to have some pain. I definitely noticed every pain after my operation. What they told me is that some pain is normal. Heck they even give you nitro and yell you to take it for pain, and only go to the ER after you have had to take 3. I definitely notice the slightest heartburn now and at first it freaked me out until i found I could differentiate it. The only way they have to gauge good heart function is an echocardiogram and it sounds like you've had that. Definitely continue to talk to your cardiologist, but try not to stress over it.
Yes....its a horrid time for a few months. Its also a big worry which doesnt help. I found that breathing exercises are good and drink loads of water. Its been 4 years for me and every day gets better. It will for you too.
Hi there i had a traumatic event and heart attack plus two stents and i thought i was tough and would show them how fast i would heal. This was a year ago last April and what i can tell you is adjusting to the healing, the drug side effects, the crazy pains, pulls, stabbing and sometimes shortness of breath is very rough especially when fear sets in and you think, oh no not again! I can't tell you how many times i pushed through it hiking and crying because i had been back to the emergency 4 or 5 times and was afraid to go and not to go. Getting off the meds helped and now i am coming to terms with my "little heart problem" and living the best i can. Time is the healer so hang in there because everyone heals differently but you will adjust and feel much stronger and in control just give yourself time.
Thank you all for the reply’s, it is reassuring to hear aches and pains are fairly normal. I think? mine are beginning to settle? I have been told it is normal to have stretch, bruising pains following ballooning. As you say once the fear kicks in it is worse. I am getting calmer by the day now……….. Mind over matter I tell myself…….. Thanks again for your time and thoughts.
