I'm thinking of sending my donor's family a letter but I don't know what to say how can you thank someone who's husband,son or brother has saved your life by losing theirs???

I'd say just talk from your heart and gut. Just be honest. If nothing else express your gratitude. You may also tell them what it has meant to you and how it has affected your life and your outlook about it and the donor. I would imagine they would like hearing about how the loss of their loved one was at least able to help someone else have a better life.
