I went off methodone because I didn't like the side effects and I still got restless leg. The Dr. put me on oxycodone.. I have been calling almost every day because I can't take this suffering. As soon as the oxycodone wears off the restless legs come back. The fill in dr wants me to switch back to methodone since I was not feeling as bad on it. However, when I looked at my notes I still had rls while taking methodone but not as severe. I agreed to switch to methodone today, but I don't think I could do it. I have to wait til 6 pm with no oxycodone to take the methodone. I can't go that long with no meds. Last week I was so desperate I took a marijuana gummy and the restless legs went away. My dr. doesn't believe in marijuana so I can't tell her. I cant take the gummy and oxycodone together. But I'm desperate, Im thinking of using the gummy today. I am thinking of telling the fill in dr I don't want to switch to methodone til my dr. comes back next week. Something has to be done. I am going out of my mind suffering with this restless legs. Please help. I don t want to waste my time switching back to methodone if it is not going to work perfectly. My son was taking mirapax and went off of it and started to vape. Once he vaped his restless legs went away instantly. I tried that but I have a hard time inhaling For some reason I can't do it. What should I do?

Help! What to do?

I would stick with the gummies if they work. You don't need to go through your doctor to get them.
Maybe you never took enough methadone to stop the RLS? It and buprenorphine are clearly the most recommended opioids because they last much longer and stop RLS for most people if you take enough. Side effects are another story though.... If the methadone side effects were bad for you, trying buprenorphine might be worthwhile. Struggling with side effects seems to be something we all have to deal with, especially until finding a regimen that works the best for you.
If you want a faster acting cannabis than gummies, but can't vape, there are tinctures that you put under your tongue. They supposedly act faster. But gummies last longer (6 hours or so for me).
Maybe so I think I was taking 12 mg. I went offf it cause I didn't like side effects. Maybe that was a mistake. I didn't know it would be like this. I am dying a slow death . I feel like someone is torturing me.
I know exactly how you feel, as do many of us here. Life was so much easier for the 12 years I was on pramipexole. Then augmentation. Been a struggle ever since. For me, buprenorphine has made a huge difference. I keep looking for alternatives because of the opioid side effects (for me constipation, insomnia, hot flashes), and that search for alternatives has created some self-inflicted torture. But the side effects are generally manageable. and they are nowhere near as bad as the agony of RLS.
Yes I take cannabis along with my RLS meds. The typical opioid doses for RLS are low enough to not cause concern about breathing, etc. that the standard opioid cautions talk about as far as combining with cannabis. While the gummies can help quiet mild RLS, I take them mainly for sleep.
I vape when I want fast acting, gummies when I want longer lasting (6 hours). Tinctures are an alternative to vaping, but the taste isn’t great.
