hello all, i have posted here a few times about the dietary changes that have helped my RLS...part of my syndrome is also intense pain that starts about 45 min after i go to sleep and last till about 4am...brisk walking helps. Recently i have tried having my main meal at noon and a very light supper, low in histamine. Maybe 2 scrambled eggs, or a small baked potato with butter.
That has made a huge difference for me. I am sleeping better than i have in years. I am still taking my regimen of pills but the pain is gone. Thank God!

That’s interesting, thanks for the information. A few people have said earlier mealtimes and eating less in the evening can help so it’s always worth a try. I always try to eat at 18.30 for the same reason.
Hello. Nearly 25 years I had RLS. No drugs, magnesium, iron and vitamins helped me. I changed my daily round. Reduced amount of the food (calories) 30% and consumed it two times a day. 7am - 3pm. After no long RLS began to fade. Two months later RLS disappeared finally. I continue to eat two times a day. Don't consume fried foods, fat meat and cheese, all sugary foods, chocolate, milk, sunflower oil, corn oil. Every day make basic fitness exercises. RLS has gone.
your message is so inspiring. Thank you. I have noticed that the nights i would have something like a steak or a burger (no bread) were REALLY the worst! I related it to the histamines in aged beef. And of course, cheese is loaded with histamine also. In addition to what you are doing, i have also cut out almost all oxalate plant foods (chocolate is a bad one), and collagen of any kind...eg the skin on chicken, or bone broth. Collagen makes everything worse also. Yes, we need to get back to basic eating, and eating less. Moving more, more sunlight!
I notice when I go on holiday eat lots of salad and fish I’m much better for me there’s definitely a gut connection as when my stomach is bad in the night my RLS is too
I agree with eating early and staying away from sweets and salty foods later in the day. I had ice cream around dinner time and my RLS kicked in, although not bad, when I went to bed. Lesson learned. Have your treats early in the day and then drink lots of water to let it pass thru your system so by bedtime, you should be good!
read about foods that are high in histamine, how foods develop more histamine, as they sit out. And also which foods are histamine liberators....ie, they are not themselves high in histamine but they liberate it in your body....for me, those were the sneaky ones that catch one unawares! Like peas, pineapple ...let me know how it goes!
