Just wondering what others here do if you want an afternoon nap? I understand that many people take their RLS meds throughout the day, so napping probably isn't an issue. But I think most of us just take meds at night. If so, are you able to nap without RLS symptoms? I'm on buprenorphine, taking it around 8-9pm. I don't want to take more than I currently am because of side effects. I usually can't take an afternoon nap for more than 30 minutes before symptoms wake me up. I have tried taking one half of my normal buprenorphine dose before the nap, and the other half at 8pm. That often works for both the nap and the night. But occasionally it's not enough for the nap, and frequently I get symptoms around 5am or so. Presumably this is because the residual effect of the naptime dose lasts until 5 or so when coupled with the 8pm dose. I've also tried taking a full dose at naptime and nothing at night. This solves the nap issue, but then I get early morning symptoms most of the time. I obviously could take a little more at both naptime and bedtime. But that worsens the side effects. Is this an issue for people who are just using gabapentin or pregabalin if you're just dosing at night?

Napping with RLS meds
I take gabapentin at night and since it completely controls my RLS I can take a nap.
I take methadone, smallest dose possible. If I have a daytime rest it's usually fine but occassionally it's not and RL stops me from settling down. I also can get early morning RL but want to avoid increasing the dose.
I have begun spreading my dose, half at noonish and half at night which helps with a nap now and then, but I’ve never had anything work on a regular basis for sleeping anyways with this syndrome.❤️🩹
I used to nap every day but haven’t napped more than five minutes in years. But I’m still tapering off pramipexole so hoping that will change once I’m off it for good.
Naps? I wish. RLS has robbed me of the pleasure of naps, and I take caffeine most days to avoid the temptation to sleep. For me, daytime tiredness always leads to daytime RLS. I could take more tramadol to get a good nap, but I want to avoid increasing the dose.
I am taking my doses only evening and night, I split 0,2 mcg Temgesic/Bupr. but some days raising to 0,3 mcg because I feel that 0,2 is not enough. But on the other hand I am fighting tiredness during the day and loss of appetite and do not want to get more of these.
When I try taking a nap I will succeed 3-4 times out of 10 - sleeping 20-40 minutes. But 6-7 times I will just lie for 5 minutes before RLS starts.
Usually I start my first dose at about 8-9 pm - but some days I take it earlier because RLS sets in around 7 pm. And sometimes I get it early morning. In any case I do a lot of stretching.
I am thinking of experimenting with my dose of 0,2 to 0,3 during the day. I think I have mini withdrawals, but not always (depending on food or whatever).
