RLS PURGATORY

It is 11:45 in the evening in the UK My RLS is the worst it has ever been It feels as I am on fire I can't get an appointment with a Consultant for many months The NHS refuse to even discuss my RLS I have emailed my MP who has not replied

The UK's Health Service is broken

The weather is very humid which makes my RLS much worse

@My skin is burning all over I have bathed in cold water which helps for about three minutes after which my RLS takes over

I walk around five miles three days a week and this doesn't ease my RLS

I sympathise so much with fellow sufferer's who have this horrible disease

I'm so sorry you are unable to get help. Are you on medication? And have you had your iron levels tested?

If your ferritin level is below 100 you should take an iron supplement such as iron biglysinate. For some lucky people this is enough to eradicate symptoms. Can you go to your gp for medication?

Are you still on pregabalin? The average dose is 150 -200 mg at night.Has your GP carried out recent full iron panel blood tests?Your GP has to see you and discuss treatment. Write a letter to demand an appointment and the blood tests as set out on RLS-UK website.

Intense aerobic exercise can worsen RLS so do walking before noon and try weight training for your legs as muscle stores dopamine, which helps RLS.

Man - do consider iron supplements - worked the charm for me. Intense, severe RLS with "normal" Ferritin levels (49). Supplements (ferrous bisglycinate chelate - also called gentle iron) raised it to 105 in 3 months. There was an almost immediate relief when I first started it. You could also add the probiotic LP299v to increase iron absorption. Lots of videos about iron from the experts at Johns Hopkins Neurology Dept...
