I have definitely put weight on with this medication, I have been on it 10months, having to increase it every six to eight weeks I’m now on 475mg and increase of 25mg only three days ago, this increase has made no difference, as in my previous posts, it seems like a medication you have to keep increasing to the maximum dose .
Pragabalin : I have definitely put... - Restless Legs Syn...
Pragabalin
"Effective pregabalin doses are usually in the range of 150 to 450 mg per day" according to the Mayo Algorithm. You have tried increasing further. You have tried DesertOasis's nightly iron regime.
Both SueJohnson and Amrob suggested that you might need to taper *very* slowly off the pregabalin and transition to a low dose opioid. (Sue also suggested trying dipyridamole).
Go back and reread their replies to your last post, and good luck with this!
Thank you, I have managed to get a doctors appointment on Tuesday, will that mean I will be taking Pragabalin and a low dose of opioid until I come off the Pregabalin and then will I just be on the opioid, sorry my doctors are not up on RLS medication, they seem to just go through the
List of medications available.
Pregabalin often does not work for RLS patients who have been on Dopamine Agonists. The theory is that dopamine agonists cause permanent damage to dopamine receptors.
Many of us failed to respond to gabapentinoids.
Your next step is a low dose opioid.
Wherabouts in the UK are you? There are a handful of doctors who know more than the basics and you will either need a good GP who is prepared to learn about RLS and read the research you supply OR a neurologist/sleep doctor who is up to date with The Mayo Algorithm and Opioid use for RLS.
We can give you a few names.
